Work Text:

"We’re both from England and just visiting New York, actually. We’ve planned this big trip for our fifth wedding anniversary. Our wedding was a recreation of our first date at Herne Bay, plus our friends and family. It was small, just about 30 people or so. After a short ceremony by the water which was officiated by our friend Isaac, this one here picked me up and ran us into the sea shouting 'You’re my husband, I’m your husband, were husbands!' Idiot. Love you, though! Our group wedding photo, taken by our friend Tao, was of everyone together on the carousel. We had a photo booth set up, and cardboard cutouts of the two of us where people could put their faces in. Our friend Elle, who is an artist, painted them for us, and they were hilarious. They now permanently reside in the office in our flat which, I guess that could be a bit creepy now that I think of it, but it makes us laugh. They may need a new home soon though because, when we get back, we’re changing the office into a nursery. But back to the wedding! We had a giant order of fish and chips from the shop for everyone and Nick absolutely insisted on making 48 cupcakes himself the morning of our wedding. But, of course baby, they were perfect. We rented a little cottage nearby to stay the weekend, which was a wedding gift from our darling friends Tara and Darcy. We may be far from perfect, but it was the perfect day, I think. True to us, silly and special, and a chance to look back at how far we’d come. And now look at us! Boyfriends to husbands, and soon to be dads. God, it sounds cliché, but being with him, getting to experience all this with him… it’s like a dream. I never thought this would happen to me."
