Play the Victim Card, Chapter 1:
A group of men in sharply pressed suits walked into the diner. They couldn’t be more suspicious but what was more concerning was they weren’t trying to be subtle.
“Penguin’s men,” Dick said, his voice cold when Jason looked back at him. “Or what’s left of them.” The immediate switch flip reminded Jason that his brother had been slamming heads into Gotham sidewalks since he was eight.
As if he was aware of this sudden change, Dick relaxed his shoulders and tried to put back on his grin. “Well, as long as they act civil, there’s nothing to worry about,” he said quietly. “Even felons need to eat.”
Dick’s grace was dashed when one of the men pulled out a gun and shot a round into the ceiling.
Everyone but Dick and Jason flinched. The united silence that came after was piercing.
“This is a stick up!” The shooter said, stating the very obvious.
