The Morningstar's sun

Summary:

This story is undergoing a major update, with new information and content being added, which changes some aspects of the chapters. I'll leave the old chapters up until the updated ones are ready. Thank you all for your support and for taking the time to read my story.

Notes:

Summary: Before the Hazbins
Before the rebellion.
Before a new roar shook the plains.
Before hope rose from the shadows of old power, there was only the Infernal Savanna.
Eight mighty prides ruled the sun-scorched wilderness, bound by the sunbound Code and ancient rivalries. At the center of it all, the Morningstars—King Lucifer and Queen Lilith—watched from their silent plateau, their rule absolute, their interference rare. The moon above cast its ever-watchful light over all: the proud, the exiled, the forgotten.
Among the eight, the Carmine Pride grows stronger—its rulers, Carmilla and Zestial, weaving a legacy of fear, diplomacy, and control. The Vees Pride rises in chaos and flamboyance. The Kaiju Pride stirs beneath misted pools and shadowed reeds. The Red and Black Pride strains under a crumbling dynasty. In the shadows, Alastor prowls. Velvet sharpens her claws. And in the No-Man’s Land, rogues, loners, and exiles cling to survival.
But something is changing. Whispers echo across the Gathering Grounds. Old power falters. And fate itself seems to shift beneath the Morningstar sun.
This is a story of loyalty and law, of power and pride—
—and of the wild world that came before the rise of the Hazbins.

Updates: every Sunday or if the chapter is not done every other Sunday.

Chapter Text

Hello all

This is my first fanfiction that will be staying!!! There may be spelling errors, short chapters, and long chapters. I may not use the right tags at first, or forget to put one in.

This story will start out with canon characters, and OC’s will be added later on. I will forever be updating my cheat sheet down below here. To help keep characters and storylines straight. Feel free to use it as a tool as well.

This story is an AU as Lions and Prides, no fancy magic things involved, trying to keep it as real life as possible. Themes and ideas are pulled from many different types of work, like Warrior Cats, for example. There are also some common laws they all follow *also listed down below*

I DO NOT OWN any of these characters, only my OC’s, or anything related to the Helluvas’s!!!

There are currently 8 great prides, with one of them being the Morningstar pride. Their reigning lions, Lucifer and Lilith, rule over all the prides and lions—even those wandering the no-lion’s-land—and have done so for many generations. They rarely intervene in the struggles of other prides unless they deem it necessary. The other prides included…

  • The Carmine Pride, ruled by Queens Carmilla and Zestial.
  • The Vees Pride, ruled by Kings Vox, Valentino, and young Velvet.
  • The Radio Pride, King Alastor — not yet allied with the Hazbin Pride.
  • The Cannibal Pride, Queen Roise.
  • The Kaiju Pride, Queen Zeezi.
  • The Skull Pride, King Flame Skull.
  • The Red & Black Pridenot yet dissolved, King Husker.
  • The Hazbin Pridenot yet formed, Queens Charlie and Vaggie.

Some prides are allies, while others are eternal rivals. All follow similar laws and traditions, yet they remain under the overarching authority of the Morningstar Pride; over generations, few have ever needed reminders of their place in the hierarchy.

Not all lions run with the eight main prides. Smaller prides, numbering fewer than ten lions, scatter across the savanna, the hills, and the free No-Man’s Land, where prey is scarce and territorial disputes are common. Exiled cubs or lions who have been cast out from their birth pride often take refuge here, learning to survive on their own.

This timeline unfolds before Charlie is born, when Husker still rules as the king of his pride, and Velvet has just joined the Vees Pride, helping them consolidate their newly formed coalition.

Morningstar Pride

Leaders: High King Lucifer and High Queen Lilith

Lucifer

  • Breed Type: Pale, nearly white male lion with a refined, noble frame (like a rare leucistic lion, but with an ethereal shimmer). with red eyes

  • Appearance: Slender and slightly smaller than most males, but radiates elegance and power. His pale coat is brushed with blush-gold undertones that catch sunlight like fire. His mane is fine and smooth, touched with faint streaks of golden-red that glow at the edges. His eyes blaze with molten pride, and subtle markings near his muzzle and paws resemble smoldering flame tips.

  • Role: Infernal High King/bearer of an ancient, legendary bloodline.

  • Personality: Calm, calculating, timeless. His dominance is absolute—not through brute strength, but through the unshakable weight of his presence. He never acts without first consulting Lilith.

  • Roar: Not the loudest, but smooth, ringing, and clear—a chilling sound that feels more sacred than savage, like a temple bell cutting across the savanna.

Lilith

  • Breed Type: Pale pinkish-cream lioness with a tall, graceful frame.

  • Appearance: Shimmering coat with a faint starry gleam in certain light; eyes that reflect constellations. Her presence is ethereal, the kind of lioness that even the fiercest warriors instinctively lower their heads to.

  • Role: High Queen of the Pride.

  • Personality: Kind yet aloof, regal, and calculating. Though serene, she can fight with startling ferocity when pressed. A lioness no one dares make an enemy of.

Charlie (unborn cub)

  • Breed Type: Pale ivory lioness cub with blush-gold undertones.

  • Appearance: Will grow tall and slender like her mother. Her fur glows faintly under moonlight, with golden eyes that gleam like hope itself. As she matures, faint crown-like markings will appear above her brow and along her back, resembling a halo or delicate flame tips.

  • Role: Daughter of the High King and High Queen; heir to the Morningstar legacy.

  • Personality: Hopeful, nurturing, and warm—destined to inherit her parents’ nobility but with her own gentler, compassionate spirit.

  • Roar (cub’s cry): Musical and bright, carrying an almost hymn-like quality that stirs the hearts of others.

Satan

    • Breed Type: Massive, dark-maned lion of northern descent — broad, muscular, and battle-scarred. Built for dominance and endurance, his size alone commands respect among all prides.
    • Appearance: Deep russet-brown coat with darker shading across his shoulders and flanks. His mane is thick and coarse, a mix of black and dark crimson tones that catch the light like embers. His eyes are a burning amber, sharp and alert, with old scars tracing his muzzle and chest — each one earned in battle.

  • Role: Second Mane/head Guard- Oversees all warriors, enforces order, commands protection of den and royals.

  • Personality: Stern, disciplined, and utterly loyal. Satan values strength, respect, and structure above all else. He is known for his fierce temper but also his sense of honor — never punishing without cause, and always rewarding effort and bravery. Though his words are few, his presence keeps even the rowdiest lions in line. Privately, he’s protective of cubs and the young fighters he trains, pushing them hard because he believes survival demands it.
  • Roar: Deep and powerful, rolling across the plains like distant thunder. It’s not the loudest, but it carries an unmistakable weight — a promise of retribution to any who threaten the pride.

Asmodeus

  • Role: head Broodmother- Oversees mothers, cubs, and den life; maintains harmony and care in domestic quarters.
  • Personality: Confident, elegant, and expressive. Asmodeus enjoys being admired but uses his charm to uplift others as much as himself. He has a dramatic flair and a sharp tongue but shows deep compassion toward mothers, cubs, and those under his care. He values honesty, affection, and mutual respect, and despises cruelty or manipulation. Beneath his showmanship lies a strong sense of pride and principle.
  • Roar: Smooth and resonant — commanding yet warm, more a call to attention than a challenge. Carries easily across the territory, recognized as a voice of reassurance and authority.

  • with kindness. Despite his playfulness, he has a keen emotional intelligence and often uses humor to defuse conflict or lift others’ spirits.
  • Roar: Light and musical — not loud, but sharp and rhythmic, like a rolling laugh across the plains. He uses his voice more for song and call than challenge, often blending it with others during gatherings.

Beelzebub

  •  Breed Type: Lean, athletic lioness built for speed and endurance. Her frame is foxlike — narrow-shouldered but muscular through the legs and haunches, ideal for long pursuits and agile maneuvers.
  • Appearance: Pale golden coat with darker rose-brown streaks along her back and flanks, giving her a sun-striped look. A faint reddish tint dusts the tips of her ears and tail tuft. • Personality: Bold, lively, and fiercely devoted to her pride. Beelzebub thrives in the chase and takes pride in her coordination and leadership. She’s competitive but fair, often challenging her hunters to do better while watching over them like an older sister. Outside hunts, she’s social and warm, known for her humor and enthusiasm.
  • Roar: Sharp and rallying — not overly deep, but full of fire and authority. Her call signals the start of hunts or alerts the pride of success, echoing with energy that spurs others into motion.

Mammon

  • Breed Type:  Massive, muscular male lion with a broad chest and thick shoulders. His build leans toward stocky power — more strength and endurance than agility. Though imposing, he carries himself with charisma and confidence, a lion who commands attention simply by walking into view.
  • Appearance: His pelt is a rich golden-tawny color with deeper amber shading along his flanks and shoulders. His mane is thick and full, darker at the roots and lightening to sun-gold at the tips. His eyes are a sharp greenish-yellow, bright and calculating, always scanning his surroundings. Scars and old notches in his ears hint at his years of patrolling and leadership. Occasionally, faint darker spots mark his legs and muzzle — remnants of dust and soil from long scouting runs.
  • Role: Head of scouts-  Oversees scouts and exploration; maps borders, monitors other prides, and tracks herds.
  • Personality: Proud, competitive, and larger-than-life. Mammon loves displays of skill and turns scouting into friendly rivalry among his lions. Though he enjoys boasting and showmanship, he’s deeply committed to his duties — his pride’s safety always comes first. He has a loud laugh, a commanding voice, and a tendency to reward loyalty with mentorship. Beneath his vanity lies a shrewd strategist who can read terrain and movement better than almost anyone.
  • Roar: Thunderous and booming — a rolling sound that echoes across the savanna and announces his presence long before he arrives. It’s as much a warning to rivals as it is a signal to his scouts that their leader is on patrol.

 Lira

  • Breed Type: Sleek, pale lioness with a lean, streamlined build suited for endurance and long-distance travel. Her posture and movement reflect quiet confidence — every step measured, smooth, and purposeful.
  • Appearance: Her coat is a soft silvery-beige, lighter along her underbelly and chest. Faint warm tones of cream and rose show when sunlight touches her fur. Her eyes are a clear blue, sharp and observant, giving her an air of quiet intelligence. Her ears are slightly rounded, and her muzzle has a subtle pale marking that makes her expression gentle and open.
  • Role: Head Messenger-  Maintains communication with allies and within the pride; mediates disputes and peace talks.
  • Personality: Calm, diplomatic, and composed under pressure. Lira has a gift for reading others’ moods and de-escalating conflicts before they turn violent. She believes in reason and mutual respect, preferring to solve disputes with understanding rather than strength. Loyal to her pride but fair-minded toward others, she embodies quiet authority.
  • Roar: Smooth and even-toned — not the loudest, but clear and steady, often used to signal peace or call her team in from patrols. It’s a reassuring sound rather than a threatening one.

Vyn

  • Breed Type:  Dark-coated lioness with a powerful, compact build and quiet, deliberate movements. Her musculature is dense and balanced for bursts of speed and precision, ideal for ambushes and night patrols.
  • Appearance: Her coat is a deep charcoal-brown that darkens around her legs, tail, and muzzle, blending easily into the shadows at dusk. Subtle lighter streaks run along her shoulders and flanks — natural camouflage in tall grass. Her eyes are pale green, sharp and calculating, always scanning for threats. A faint scar marks her right cheek, a silent reminder of her experience.
  • Role: head tracker-  Leads night patrols and stealth operations; tracks threats or prey silently.
  • Personality: Calm, focused, and fiercely loyal. Vyn prefers silence to speeches, leading by example rather than command. She has a strong sense of duty and morality, though her methods are pragmatic. While Lira embodies diplomacy, Vyn ensures peace through vigilance — the unseen balance between trust and protection.
  • Roar: Deep and restrained — rarely used unless to issue a warning or rally her patrol. Its low timbre carries through the night like distant thunder, more felt than heard.

Belphegor

  • Breed Type:  Thick-furred lioness with a soft lavender-gray coat and dense mane-like ruff around her neck and chest.
  • Appearance: Her fur is pale gray with faint cream tones along her muzzle and underbelly, darkening toward her paws and tail tip. Her mane is unusually full for a lioness — fluffy and curled, giving her a gentle, cloud-like appearance. Her eyes are a calm amber, often half-lidded as if lost in thought.
  • Role: Lead Healer- Cares for the sick and wounded, keeps the den in order, and trains apprentice healers.
  • Personality: Serene, wise, and patient. Belphegor speaks slowly and rarely shows frustration, no matter the situation. She believes every wound — physical or emotional — heals in time, and she encourages others to rest rather than rush. Though calm, she’s deeply perceptive and can sense tension or illness before others notice.
  • Roar: Low and soothing, more of a hum than a bellow — comforting to cubs and weary lions alike.

Aurex

  • Breed Type: Sleek golden-brown lion with a narrow frame built for distance and endurance. His coat carries faint ringed markings, reminiscent of rippling sand dunes under moonlight.
  • Appearance: Aurex’s eyes are pale silver-green, sharp and watchful. His mane is short and wind-ruffled, streaked with dull brass tones from years of dust and sun exposure. His tail tuft is trimmed thin for stealth, and a faint scar crosses his muzzle — a trophy from a successful border skirmish.
  • Role: Hunter and Scout- Works under Beelzebub and Mammon; reliable and disciplined.
  • Personality: Quiet, observant, and highly disciplined. Aurex doesn’t waste effort or words, preferring to act with precision. Though not the most social lion, he’s respected for his dependability and calm under pressure.
  • Roar: Short, clipped, and rhythmic — used more as communication than intimidation. The other scouts know it as a “silent thunder.”

Glissa

  • Breed Type: Lean lioness with a light tan coat, marked with gold-dusted freckles across her shoulders and cheeks that glitter faintly in sunlight.
  • Appearance: Her eyes are sharp citrine, her pupils narrow and foxlike. She carries small decorative bands of dried reeds and feathers behind her ears — her own trophies from successful hunts. Her claws are slightly curved and longer than average, giving her an edge in climbing and ambush attacks.
  • Role: Huntress- Works under Beelzebub; agile, clever, and fearless.
  • Personality: Witty, fearless, and flirtatious — she treats danger like a game. Though she teases Mammon’s greed openly, she’s deeply loyal and views him as a “necessary fool.” Her speed and agility make her indispensable to the outer pride.
  • Roar: Sharp, piercing whistle-tones rather than full roars — perfect for coded signals that travel miles without giving away position.

Thrix

  • Breed Type: Burly lion with dark bronze fur and faint green striping along his sides — an uncommon mutation among the pride. His paws are huge, leaving claw marks shaped like coins.
  • Appearance: His mane is messy and thick, streaked with deep jade and gold dust, and one ear is split from an old fight. He wears a small golden band around his neck — a personal gift from Mammon himself, marking him as First Claw of the Gilded Eyes.
  • Role: Protector / Pride Male- Works under Satan; main defense and cub guardian.
  • Personality: Loud, brash, and fiercely loyal to Mammon — he shares his commander’s love of spectacle but channels it into physical dominance rather than showmanship. Known for his booming laughter mid-battle, which many enemies find unnerving. Despite his size, he’s fiercely protective of the smaller scouts under his care.
  • Roar: Deep and rumbling, echoing like a collapsing mountain — used to both intimidate and direct.

Fizzarolli

    • Breed Type:  Small, wiry lion built for agility and speed rather than power. Compact muscles ripple beneath his sleek frame, giving him the flexibility and balance of a born performer.
    • Appearance: His coat is a unique blend of reddish-gold and dark brown, with lighter streaks along his flanks and muzzle that catch the light when he moves. His mane is short and tousled, streaked naturally with sandy and russet tones that seem almost patterned when the sun hits them. His left eye is rimmed with scar tissue from an old burn, giving him a slightly uneven but distinctive look. His eyes are bright amber, full of mischief and spark.

  • Role: Entertainer / Messenger Assistant-  Works under Lira and Asmodeus; morale booster and den-keeper.

  • Personality: Energetic, witty, and endlessly expressive. Fizzarolli thrives on laughter and attention, always eager to make others smile. He hides his insecurities behind humor, but his loyalty runs deep, especially toward Asmodeus and those who treat him

Vortex

  • Breed Type:  Large, powerfully built lion with a dense, dark coat and strong frame made for both strength and endurance. His physique leans toward that of a seasoned defender — solid and balanced, capable of both swift bursts of movement and holding ground under pressure.
  • Appearance: Deep charcoal-gray coat with black shading along his muzzle, paws, and tail tip. His mane is dark and short, more practical than decorative, framing his face with a rugged edge. A pale scar runs over his left eye, a reminder of past fights. His eyes are a vivid amber-red, sharp and watchful. Despite his size, he moves with a quiet, controlled confidence.
  • Role: Protector / Hunting Guard-  Partner to Beelzebub; dual role between Guard and Hunt.
  • Personality: Calm, dependable, and quietly brave. Vortex prefers observation over confrontation but reacts instantly when needed. He’s the steady counterpart to Beelzebub’s fiery energy — practical, patient, and deeply loyal. Beneath his stoic exterior, he has a gentle side that shows around cubs and close companions.
  • Roar: Deep and resonant — a grounded, earth-shaking sound that can halt conflict before it begins. Among his pride, it’s known as a call of reassurance as much as defense.

(includes former lands of the Morde Pride)
Leaders: Queen Carmilla and King Zestial

Carmilla

  • Breed Type: Rose-gray lioness with sleek fur and noble carriage.

  • Appearance: Elegant with high, arched shoulders and a piercing gaze. Her fur carries a magenta sheen in moonlight. Around her neck rests a long white ruff streaked with black, like a dark veil. Her eyes blaze scarlet red, commanding attention with a single glance.

  • Role: Matriarch / Highborn Queen of a prestigious bloodline, absolute ruler of her pride.

  • Personality: Regal, manipulative, quietly ruthless. Every move she makes is measured, and her control is ironclad.

  • Roar: Smooth and low, like a whisper before a storm, unsettling in its restraint.

Zestial

  • Breed Type: Towering, long-limbed lion with spiderlike elegance.

  • Appearance: Unnaturally tall and lean, his dark gray coat carries a silky, smoky shimmer. His long limbs and wiry frame suggest fragility, but he is deceptively strong—an efficient fighter and hunter. His green eyes glow with a strange, unsettling calm.

  • Role: King of the Pride, ruling alongside Carmilla though ultimately second to her authority.

  • Personality: Elegant and cautious, yet unshakable. His presence is unnerving but tempered with a strangely compassionate, even sadistic edge when provoked.

  • Appearance: Rich golden-amber coat layered with honey-toned streaks that shimmer warmly in the sunlight. His sharp icy-blue eyes stand out vividly against his warm coloring.

  • Role: Pride Lieutenant / Beta — one of Carmilla’s most trusted lions. Serves as both hunter and fighter, acting as the right hand to Carmilla and Zestial.

  • Personality: Kind and caring in his private moments, but unwaveringly loyal to the Carmine Pride. Strong, dependable, and fiercely protective of his rulers, he is respected both for his heart and his skill in combat.

  • Roar: Smooth and strong, commanding attention and bolstering the morale of his pride.

Vees Pride (V’s Pride)

Leaders: King Vox and King Valentino
(Velvet — future Queen, still in training)

Vox

  • Breed Type: Broad-shouldered, black-coated lion with a strange, glitching shimmer across his pelt. Neon-red flickers ripple through his fur like static sparks.

  • Appearance: His sleek black coat is never still, appearing to shift and distort like static patterns. His glowing eyes flicker like red pixels, unnerving to behold in the dark.

  • Role: King of the Pride.

  • Personality: Vain, dominating, controlling. Obsessed with appearances and influence, with a hunger for absolute power.

  • Roar: Buzzing and electric, carrying a distorted hum like broken thunder.

Valentino

  • Breed Type: Garish reddish-pink and black lion with oily, slick fur and golden fangs.

  • Appearance: Broad-chested with a perpetual smirk. His fur looks wet and slick, glistening like velvet soaked in blood. His long body and lean legs give him a predatory elegance.

  • Role: King of the Pride (co-ruler with Vox). Will continue sharing rule when Velvet rises as Queen.

  • Personality: Cruel, possessive, smug. Charms with false sweetness while hiding threats beneath every word.

  • Roar: Cracked and snarling, jagged like broken stone—masking menace with sugar-coated mockery.

Velvet (not yet an adult)

  • Breed Type: Thin, angular lioness cub with exaggerated features and oversized, dramatic ears.

  • Appearance: Grayish-pink coat marked with delicate white patterns like lace. Her tail curls like a ribbon behind her, and she wears a masklike grin even in her youth.

  • Role: Future Queen of the Pride, currently in training as a fighter and ruler. Treated as an adoptive daughter to Vox and Valentino.

  • Personality: Playful and cruel, obsessed with control, spectacle, and drama. Loves to command attention in every move she makes.

  • Roar (cub’s cry): A chilling cackle woven into her howl-like cry—half-laughter, half-scream.

Radio Pride

Leader: King Alastor
Other Members: Niffty, Mimzy

Alastor

  • Breed Type: Tall, lean reddish-black lion (dire-lion build — slightly larger and sharper than average).

  • Appearance: Angular and wiry, his crimson-streaked coat bristles like a constant electric buzz. His teeth are always bared in a manic grin, and tufts of wiry fur stand upright behind his ears like antennae. His eyes gleam with manic brightness, making his presence as unsettling as it is magnetic.

  • Role: King of the Pride.

  • Personality: Charming, theatrical, and chaotic. A trickster who delights in stirring trouble and keeping others off-balance. He rules less by brute force and more by charisma, unpredictability, and sheer presence.

  • Roar: Warped and echoing, carrying layered distortions like phantom voices — half-roar, half-laugh.

Niffty

  • Breed Type: Petite, nimble lioness with a darting, restless energy.

  • Appearance: Small and fidgety, with reddish-pink fur and constantly shifting paws as though she’s always ready to pounce or clean. Her bright eyes dart everywhere at once.

  • Role: Omega / Pride caretaker — tends the den, keeps things in order, and fusses over cubs and nesting spaces.

  • Personality: Energetic, obsessive, and endlessly helpful — but with a deranged edge that makes her more unsettling than comforting.

  • Roar: High-pitched and squeaky — more of a sharp squeal than a roar.

Mimzy

  • Breed Type: Petite but flamboyant lioness with a showy, art-deco elegance.

  • Appearance: Soft peachy-tan fur patterned with golden swirls that shimmer like embroidery in sunlight. Her plume-like tail fans gracefully, and her ruff flares like a beaded collar. Subtle markings along her flanks mimic the motion of a 1920s fringe dress. Her large, bright eyes sparkle with mischief, framed by long lashes.

  • Role: Gamma — not bound to the pride’s duties, comes and goes as she pleases.

  • Personality: Vivacious, endlessly talkative, and nostalgic for her “glory days.” She’s self-absorbed, flirtatious, and loves drama but avoids real danger. A charmer with flair for spectacle.

  • Roar: Jazzy and melodic — a howl-like roar with a swing rhythm, fading like a trumpet note into moonlight. Sometimes scatters her calls instead of roaring properly.

Cannibal Pride

Leaders: Queen Roise and her enforcer King Franklin
Other Members: Elder Susan

Roise

  • Breed Type: Neat and well-groomed lioness, with sleek gray-white fur and impeccable posture.

  • Appearance: Her coat bears faint rose-like whorls, subtle but deliberate, as though etched into her pelt. Her tail curls elegantly, every hair perfectly in place. Her red-tinged eyes carry a deceptive warmth that masks her razor-sharp intent.

  • Role: Queen of the Pride.

  • Personality: Sweet on the surface — honeyed words and polite smiles — but razor-edged underneath. Ruthless and manipulative, she leads with a veneer of grace that cloaks cruelty.

  • Roar: Polite but piercing — like silk torn by a hidden knife.

Franklin (OC)

  • Breed Type: Broad-shouldered black lion, unusually thick-maned, with a low, silent gait.

  • Appearance: His smoky-black coat is underlit with charcoal tones and ashen streaks along his paws and face, giving him the look of a fire-scorched survivor. One shoulder bears faint burn-like markings. His tail is bent from an old break, one ear torn in half, and his heavy brow shadows dull amber-orange eyes.

  • Role: King of the Pride in title, but acts as Roise’s brutal enforcer. When she gives the order, he is the last face an enemy ever sees. Secretly cowers before Roise’s wrath.

  • Personality: Mute, fiercely loyal, gentle with cubs but savage with enemies. He is feared as a living weapon, though he himself fears the Queen.

  • Roar: Rarely roars — when he does, it’s a deep, resonant boom, like a thunderclap rolling over the savanna. Not a call, but a warning.

Susan

  • Breed Type: Elder lioness with a wiry, hunched build and short, sparse fur. Her figure is sharp-edged like thorns rather than muscle-bound.

  • Appearance: Mottled ash-gray and dusty plum coat with uneven dark patches. Fluffed shoulder fur and a triangular, lined face with a jutting jaw. Her expression is nearly always a crooked smirk or mocking sneer.

  • Role: Elder — a former Queen from long before Roise’s time. Though aged, she still carries the ferocity to fight.

  • Personality: Grumbling, cynical, and endlessly witty. Known for dark humor, condescending remarks, and biting commentary. Though distrustful, her loyalty to the pride is ironclad. She is voracious in appetite, with a flair for unsettling, performative drama.

  • Roar: Dry, cackling, and high-pitched — not a roar, but a hyena-like screech carried by the wind. Haunting and eerie, like laughter echoing from a funeral pyre.

Kaiju Pride

Leader: Queen Zeezi

Zeezi

  • Breed Type: Glamorous shadow-lioness with jewel-like markings and sleek, elegant fur.

  • Appearance: Her coat is a deep gray-blue that shimmers like polished stone under moonlight. Luminous cyan lines trace down her legs and tail, gleaming like jewelry in motion. Her turquoise eyes glow like gemstones, piercing through darkness. Though slender, her movements are serpentine and dangerous — every step a stalk, every gesture deliberate.

  • Role: Overlord of Illusions and Excess / Queen of Performers and Shadows.

  • Personality: Seductive, cunning, and flamboyant. Zeezi thrives on spectacle, whether in battle or in conversation. She delights in mental games, playing with her prey’s emotions and perceptions before delivering a killing strike. To her, life itself is a grand performance, and she must always remain the star.

  • Roar: Melodic and hypnotic, carrying harmonies that echo in multiple directions. Her roar creates false trails across the plains, confusing pursuers and luring victims astray.

Skull Pride

Leader: King Flame Skull

Flame Skull

  • Breed Type: Spectral lion with hollow, firelit eyes and a deathly aura.

  • Appearance: His coat is scorched black, patchy in places where charred fur reveals ghostly blue flame underneath. His mane is ragged and faintly glowing, like smoke rising from a dying fire. His paws look singed, trailing ember-like sparks when he walks. His face is skeletal in impression, with deep hollows where his glowing eyes burn.

  • Role: Alpha / King of the Skull Pride.

  • Personality: Silent, ominous, and untouchable. He rarely speaks, preferring his presence alone to command respect and terror. Though not a predator of conflict, he will defend his territory and followers with a chilling, unshakable ferocity. His pride sees him more as an immortal guardian than a mere king.

  • Roar: Hollow and endless, echoing unnaturally across the land. Even alphas of other prides fall silent when it carries through the night—it is less a roar, more a death knell.

Red and Black pride

Leader: Husker

Husker

  • Breed Type: Stocky, battle-worn lion with a broad chest and heavy frame. His mane is ragged, streaked with gray, and uneven as if it’s been torn in countless fights.

  • Appearance: Dusky gray-brown coat dulled with age and hardship, scattered with scars across his shoulders and flanks. His ears are torn and frayed, and his eyes carry a ghostlike pale hue — weary, but burning with a quiet wisdom. He always looks tired, yet unyielding.

  • Role: Currently Alpha of the Red and Black Pride. Once a respected Watcher and Lore Keeper among the Hazbin Pride (gamma/beta rank), Husker carries ancient knowledge and a storyteller’s memory. Now, he leads reluctantly, more out of necessity than ambition.

  • Personality: Cynical, gruff, and world-weary. He masks his depth behind a sharp tongue and constant weariness, but beneath it lies loyalty, hard-earned wisdom, and a quiet strength. He has no illusions of glory, only survival — and making sure his pride doesn’t crumble.

  • Roar/Call (formerly Howl): Gravelly and sorrowful, a deep bellow that carries like rolling thunder. It’s less of a war cry and more of a dirge — the sound of an old lion who has seen too much, but still refuses to bow.

Hazbin Pride (not yet fully established)

Cherry Bomb

  • Breed Type: Compact, muscular lioness.

  • Role: Fighter and hunter — comes and goes freely, maintaining ties to Angel Dust and scouting unclaimed lands.

  • Personality: Fierce, loyal, scrappy, with a fiery temper.

  • Roar: Short, aggressive barks and growls — bursts of warning and defiance.

Sir Pentious

  • Breed Type: Long-bodied, narrow-faced lion with serpentine elegance.

The Heavenly Pride

(Outside the control of the Morningstar Pride; shares similar laws but with independent rule)
Leaders: Queen Sera and King Adam
Other Members: Emily unborn, Abel unborn, Lute, St. Peter

Sera

  • Breed Type: Tall, slender lioness with long, flowing fur and soft tufts around her legs and tail.

  • Appearance: Silvery fur with periwinkle and lavender hues. Eyes pale white/gray, holding a divine, commanding gaze. Celestial streaks mark her forehead to nose, with subtle starburst or feather-like patterns along her shoulders and flanks.

  • Role: Alpha / Queen of the Pride. Her presence commands respect through words rather than physical dominance.

  • Personality: Calm, wise, and nurturing, balancing mercy with iron resolve. Prefers peace but will make difficult decisions to maintain order. Beneath her gentle demeanor is a quietly burdened yet resolute leader.

  • Roar: Harmonic, long, and layered — like a haunting hymn across the plains. Calms most lions and quiets conflict effortlessly.

Adam

  • Breed Type: Powerfully built lion, designed for both speed and aggression.

  • Appearance: Pure white coat with cold silver undertones. Subtle symmetrical facial markings resemble war paint. Tall, proud stance with chest out and chin high, radiating self-righteous authority.

  • Role: Second-in-command / King under Sera. Often acts independently but answers to her.

  • Personality: Proud, rigid, deeply self-righteous. Sees mercy as weakness, often acting with wrath rather than measured wisdom. Though he claims justice as his goal, his methods can be cruel and reckless.

Lions Pride Hierarchy

  1. King / Queen
  • The ruling pair — one or both may hold authority depending on the pride’s customs.

  • Handle diplomacy, territory negotiations, and the Sunbound Law (their code of conduct).

  • Preside over gatherings, disputes, and rites of succession.

  • Their word is law, though wise rulers consult the elders before major decisions.
  1. Heir / Princes & Princesses
  • Cubs or young adults of royal blood, trained in leadership, combat, and etiquette.

  • Often attend diplomatic hunts or pride meetings as observers.

  • A pride may have multiple heirs, but only one is formally Chosen under the Sunbound Law.

  • Disputes over succession can divide entire prides or form new factions.
  1. Second Mane
  • Trusted deputy, usually a sibling, mate, or childhood ally of the rulers.

  • Commands hunts or patrols when the King/Queen are away.

  • Enforces the Sunbound Law within the pride and settles internal disputes.

  • In wartime, acts as Field Commander; in peacetime, as Voice of the Pride at gatherings.
  1. Advisors / Elders
  • Retired lions who can no longer hunt but offer counsel, keep history, and judge disputes.

  • Responsible for maintaining bloodline records, songs of ancestry, and pride traditions.

  • During gatherings or migrations, they stay behind to guard cubs and the dens.

  • Their authority is moral and spiritual — even rulers hesitate to ignore an elder’s advice.
  1. Lead Hunter / Lead Huntress
  • Organizes hunts and food distribution.

  • Trains young lionesses and coordinates with scouts to locate herds.

  • Oversees rotation schedules for hunters and ensures the pride’s larders are full.

  • In desert prides, these leaders often act as water-finders and seasonal trackers.

  1. Scouts / Trackers
  • Patrol borders, track trespassers, and monitor prey or rival movement.

  • Skilled in stealth, scent, and terrain reading.

  • Serve as the pride’s eyes and ears — often respected but solitary.

  • In cunning or secretive prides (like Alastor’s), scouts may also serve as informants or spies.
  1. Guards / Warriors
  • Defend pride borders, dens, cubs, and royals.

  • Answer to the Regent or directly to the King/Queen.

  • In more ruthless prides, may double as executioners or law enforcers.

  1. Healers / Shamans
  • Tend wounds, assist in births, and craft poultices from desert herbs and roots.

  • Interpret omens from the Sun and stars.

  • Serve as spiritual intermediaries between lions and the spirits of the ancestors — “The Pride Beyond.”

  • Forbidden from taking mates under the Sunbound Law, as their devotion belongs to all lions equally.
  1. Broodmothers / Nurses
  • Care for cubs and younglings while mothers hunt or recover.

  • Often older lionesses, infertile females, or those who’ve lost cubs and dedicate themselves to nurturing.

  • Oversee early cub education — teaching pride chants, law, and behavior.

  • The Broodmother’s den is considered sacred and always guarded.
  1. Apprentices / Cubs in Training
  • Cubs old enough to leave the nursery are apprenticed to hunters, guards, scouts, or healers.

  • Receive mentorship from seasoned lions — “Claw-parents.”

When they come of age, they undergo a Sunbound Rite, proving courage, skill, and loyalty.

Shared Inter-Pride Laws (The Sunbound Code)

  1. Truce of the High Sun
  • No pride may engage in violence, schemes, or hunts against another pride during the Solar Gathering — the seasonal gathering of all pride leaders.

  • Any blood spilled on the Sunstone Plains is considered a crime against all prides and brings collective reprisal.

  • Purpose: maintain unity and prevent unnecessary feuds during important council times.

  1. Right to Territory
  • Each pride’s territory is sacred and may not be invaded without a formal challenge presented at the next Solar Gathering.

  • Border skirmishes by scouts or hunters are tolerated, but full-scale war requires public declaration under the sun at the gathering.

  • Purpose: respect for boundaries and the natural balance of the land.

  1. Sanctuary of the Sun
  • Wounded lions, exiled cubs, or messengers may seek refuge at the Gathering Dens under protection of the Sunbound Law.

  • Violating this sanctuary makes a pride fair prey to all others until reparation is made.

  • Purpose: uphold honor and trust among prides.

  1. Bloodlines Are Binding
  • A King or Queen’s bloodline determines their right to rule. Leadership challenges must be public, ritualized, and witnessed by the pride.

  • The outcome may be death, exile, or mercy — but the decision affects the individual, not the bloodline.

  • Cross-pride cubs must be declared at the Solar Gathering; hiding bloodlines is considered treachery.

  • Purpose: maintain clarity in succession and prevent secret plots.

  1. The Silent Pact
  • Certain matters are not to be discussed outside the council. High rulers (Morningstar Pride) determine which topics fall under this law.

  • Breaking the Silent Pact brands a lion a Sun-Whisperer — untrustworthy and liable to be silenced, banished, or worse.

  • Purpose: safeguard secrets vital to the stability of all prides.

  1. Trial by Claw
  • Crimes such as murder, betrayal, or grave insult are resolved via Trial by Claw — combat witnessed and judged by pride rulers.

  • The accused may choose a champion to fight in their stead, but the chosen lion must consent.

  • Purpose: ensure justice is fair, ritualized, and witnessed.

  1. Knowledge is Shared, Not Hoarded
  • Healers, shamans, and broodmothers gather at half-sun intervals to share knowledge of herbs, remedies, and birthing practices.

  • Purpose: preserve the health of all prides and prevent preventable death.

  1. No Pride May Rise Alone
  • No single pride may hoard the majority of power, land, or prey.

  • Such accumulation belongs to the High Kings and Queens of the Morningstar Pride.

  • If a pride becomes too dominant, others may unite in a Sunbind Coalition to restore balance — or act at the command of the Morningstars.

  • Purpose: prevent tyranny and preserve equilibrium among the eight major prides.

  1. Protection of the Young
  • Cubs under seven moons are forbidden from training in hunting or combat.

  • They may not participate in fights or raids until at least one full season old.

  • Purpose: ensure safety, proper training, and the survival of future generations.

The Pride territories

Morningstar Pride

  • Territory:

    • Vast, golden savanna with gently rolling hills and ancient stone outcrops.

    • Lush grass near rivers, sparse woodland patches.

    • Central palace-like den built on a prominent plateau, visible across much of the savanna.

  • Personality of territory: Regal, orderly, a center of power and tradition. Almost “untouchable” land — other prides show deference.

Carmine Pride

  • Leaders: Queen Carmilla & King Zestial

  • Territory:

    • Dense woodland with scattered clearings and deep shade.

    • Hidden waterholes, strategic ambush points, rocky outcrops for lookout dens.

    • Territory emphasizes secrecy and control over resources.

  • Personality of territory: Noble and imposing; elegant but lethal.

Vees Pride

  • Leaders: Vox & Valentino (Velvet in training)

  • Territory:

    • Open plains with vibrant flora, but scattered with thorny bushes and jagged cliffs.

    • Visually striking — neon-colored flowers, strange rock formations — reflects their flamboyant, dominant personality.

  • Personality of territory: Extravagant, chaotic, slightly dangerous — flashy, like a performance space for hunting and intimidation.

Radio Pride

  • Leader: Alastor

  • Territory:

    • Darker forest edge, with tall trees creating shadows and eerie echo points.

    • Several caves act as dens and performance arenas.

  • Personality of territory: Chaotic and theatrical; echoes and sound play a major role. Suited for mimicry, deception, and theatrics.

Cannibal Pride

  • Leaders: Roise & Franklin

  • Territory:

    • Thorny scrubland and jagged canyons, scattered bones and hunting traps.

    • Hidden dens with restricted paths, almost labyrinthine.

  • Territory:

    • Shadowy wetlands with reflective water pools and dense reeds.

    • Misty or foggy areas that mask movement, giving illusionary depth.

  • Personality of territory: Glamorous and deceptive; a domain of illusion and seduction. Predators strike unpredictably.

Skull Pride

  • Territory:

    • Charred volcanic plains, ash-covered rocks, and scorched earth.

    • Dimly glowing lava fissures or phosphorescent rocks, giving an eerie, ghostly glow.

  • Personality of territory: Isolated, spectral, terrifying — a place most lions avoid except the boldest.

Red & Black Pride

  • Leader: Husker

  • Territory:

    • Rocky hills with sparse grass and jagged cliffs.

    • Overgrown riverbeds, old ruins, a slightly decayed, “forgotten” look.

  • Personality of territory: Worn, world-weary, practical — the home of older, wise lions, and small but cunning prides.

Central Area: Gathering Grounds

  • Location: The heart of all pride territories, acting as neutral ground.

  • Features:

    • Open savanna clearing with a raised plateau for high alphas to oversee.

    • Sacred stones or markings for ceremonies, bloodlines, and trials.

    • Trees or rock pillars encircle the central space — offers shelter but no full cover.

  • Personality: Neutral, sacred, and heavily ritualistic — a place where law is absolute.

No-Man’s Land

  • Location: Surrounds the Gathering Grounds, acting as a buffer between pride territories.

  • Features:

    • Sparse vegetation, dangerous terrain, thorny patches, or jagged cliffs.

    • Known as a place for exiles, duels, or wandering predators.

  • Personality: Unclaimed, dangerous, lawless — a natural barrier to prevent casual conflicts.

Heavenly Pride

  • Leaders: Queen Sera & King Adam

  • Location: Beyond the No-Man’s Land, at the edge of the known savanna, closer to mountains or celestial cliffs.

  • Features:

    • Bright, ethereal grasslands, with celestial markings in rocks or clouds.

    • Dens atop cliffs, almost unreachable, with expansive views.

Personality: Divine, orderly, untouchable. Their territory feels elevated, literal and figurative, beyond the mundane politics of other prides.
