Dream was crying, curled up in the hollow of a tree he found in the forest just out of the city, feeling the roots of the flowers covering his body digging harshly into his joints. The blooming vines, covered in golden and white flowers were a painful reminder of what he was missing.
His other half, Nightmare, the other that would grow his own flowers, letting their pollen mix, inviting their bodies into an intimate dance. But now, he was itching to tear the flower buds off. But he missed the right moment to kill the flowers and now it was too late, he will have to wait for the flowers to open, spreading their pollen, only to have no answer.
Because Nightmare was gone, his brother was gone, only the corrupted monster remained and he wouldn't be surprised if he couldn't bloom anymore.
"Aren't you a sorry sight?" A mocking voice spoke from the shadow, tearing Dream from his spiraling thoughts.
"What do you want?" Dream grunted out, wiping his face with a grimace, his breath hitching as he tried to hold back the sobs. He looked out of the hollow and noticed Nightmare was covered in a loose cloak, a hood tugged over his skull.
"Your misery could be felt from the other side of the Multiverse, you know." Nightmare said, stepping closer, his dark, clawed fingers reaching out to touch one of the flower buds, but Dream slapped his hand away, "Rude." He said, cyan eye looking at Dream from within the darkness of the hood.
"Don't touch me, I don't need you adding to my pain." Dream snapped out.
Nightmare smirked, "What if I wanted to help?" He asked with a purr.
Dream scoffed, "You would never help me, at least not without wanting something in return."
Nightmare chuckled, "You are learning, little blossom." He whispered with a purr, "I want equality, Dream. Stop killing negativity, and we will have peace. Stop killing me, and you will get back what you so painfully miss."
Dream frowned, "What do you mean?" He whispered, dread filling his body.
Nightmare again reached out to touch the flower bud, caressing the closed petals with surprising gentleness, "We are not just guardians of emotions, we are made of them as well. By destroying negativity, you are slowly killing me. Why do you think I lash out like a wounded beast when you destroy the balance?" He asked softly, "That's because I can feel my body dying around me anytime you have an advantage in power. That's why I want balance to remain. I can't bloom when there's not enough energy in my body for it." He whispered.
Dream frowned, "But now…"
Nightmare smiled, "The balance is equal now." He said, reaching to undo his cloak, letting it fall to the ground, revealing his body. Nightmare was wearing a sleeves sweater with open back and shorts, his tentacles, spine and arms wrapped in vines with cyan, black and purple flower buds, one cyan flower already open, growing out of Nightmare’s broken eye socket, pollen falling from it, teasing Dream’s nose.
Dream gaped, his face flushing as the pollen reached him, "You…"
Nightmare nodded, "I did it on purpose, made sure the balance will be equal in time for the blooming." He whispered, slowly cramming his body into the hollow, backing Dream against the dry, rough wood, only until the tentacles moved to cushion his spine, lessening the pain from the growing vines, and before he could argue, Dream found himself in Nightmare’s lap, caged in the hollow, "So, what do you say, little blossom. Can you give me balance? Can you promise me we will be equals again?"
Dream whimpered, almost moaning when he felt one of Nightmare’s tentacles touch a sensitive spot on his spine, "O-okay…promise …" he mumbled, trying to hide the need to press his face into Nightmare’s body, trying to resist checking if those flowers smell the same as he remembered.
Nightmare smiled, "I will keep you to that promise, little blossom." He purred, with a flash of magic, his cloak floating up, covering the entrance to the tree hollow, creating a cozy, dark nook where the only light came from their eyelights and the flowers on their bodies.
"It's been a long time since we did this, isn't it?" Nightmare asked softly, holding Dream close, "It's been so long since I have been able to grow my blooms." He whispered his fingers trailing up Dream’s spine, tracing the vine wrapped around it, Dream unable to stop the moan that left him, "Relax, let's enjoy this, let this day be the one to seal our truce." Nightmare coaxed.
Dream nodded, unable to speak, only able to gasp as his flower buds burst open, golden sparkling pollen filling the air. Nightmare closed his eyes, breathing in deeply, a moan leaving him as the magic filled his senses, his ecto wrapping around his body as arousal arose in response to the pollen, a sharp breath the only warning for Dream as Nightmare’s flowers opened.
Dream watched the sparkling pollen mixing with his in the air, inhaling the sweet scent, letting the pollen cover his body, his flowers, the smell that much more potent than he remembered, the colors different, but not any less enthralling.
Dream felt his ecto wrap around his body, pressing against Nightmare’s more chubby body. Nightmare’s tentacles moved, removing their clothes, since they couldn't exactly move in the cramped hollow, the cyan and gold glow hidden from the outside world.
Nightmare moaned, hugging Dream closer, their chests pressing against each other, breasts soft and sensitive, tearing a pleased sound from Dream, who had the advantage in position. He was now sitting, straddling one of Nightmare’s legs, his pussy rubbing against the soft flesh. But he couldn't leave Nightmare unsatisfied, and so he snuck one of his hands down Nightmare’s body, fingering at his pussy.
Soon enough both were breathing heavier, barely rocking against each other, the sweet smell from the flowers almost cloying in the small space, the pollen clinging to their sweaty bodies, only riling them up more.
Soon they both came, slick dripping from their bodies, but it wasn't nearly enough.
Nightmare found Dream’s mouth, capturing him in a desperate kiss, their tongues tangling together, Dream returning it with just as much energy, both moaning into the kiss when two of Nightmare’s tentacles moved down their bodies, fucking them leisurely, but there was no need for harsh touch, their bodies sensitive under the effects of the pollen.
Dream could feel tears falling down his cheeks, his chest tight with emotions. He missed this… missed this feeling of feeling complete, of being together with his other half.
They didn't care about the world outside of their little tree hollow right now, not hearing the birds and other critters inhabiting the forest. What mattered now was only the one in their arms, only the pleasure coming in waves, only the smell of their flowers and the magical pollen that swirled in the air.
They stayed joined together for hours, until the flowers wilted and the vines on their bodies loosened their roots, falling from their bodies. And even then they didn't immediately move, waiting for the slick of their many releases to cool down on their bodies, waiting for their breaths to slow down and for their instincts to calm down.
And even once they parted, they did so reluctantly, unwilling to part with their other half that allowed them to finally feel balanced.
Nightmare gave Dream a washcloth soaked in water and they both cleaned up before dressing up, "So…" Dream started, wringing the dirty washcloth in his hands, "What next?"
Nightmare smiled as he tugged the hood of his cloak over his skull again, "Now, the next time we see each other, I hope you remember today and instead of attacking, you will greet me warmly, little blossom." He whispered with a purr, leaving through a dark portal.
Dream took a shaky breath, rubbing at his chest where his soul was, no longer feeling the painful loneliness in it… maybe things wll really get better.
