The Colour of Defiance
Summary:
Bond reflects on the significance of a single lock of hair.
Notes:
-
Inspired by [Restricted Work] by Anyawen (Log in to access.)
Week 4's requirements were 100 words exactly and the color purple is featured (it can be a shade of purple and the word itself does not need to be included).
I drew inspiration from Anyawen's drabble "Flair" from Week 1. I had been speculating on the colour Q was dyeing his hair and this fit perfectly. (Go read her drabbles too!)
Work Text:
He couldn’t stop thinking about that lock of eggplant hair, hiding in plain sight just behind Q’s left ear.
It wasn’t just the thought of running his fingers through it as he slowly took Q apart; it was what it meant to the man.
That defiant lock - so cleverly concealed in that riot of curls and dampened by the fluorescent lighting of Q Branch - promised that it was possible to give your all to the job and still retain that spark that made you, well, you.
It gave him hope. Perhaps he could reclaim a bit of James from 007.
