LingQi Sparks

Across Mount Ura’s jagged cliffs, the wind whipped with Hinoki cypress, the cold bite of granite, and the steamy tang of distant hot spring waters, stirring the air like a living pulse. Ki Tanmoku stood at the ridge, robes taut, storm-gray eyes scanning the shadowed valley. His striking aura coiled with restrained power, every motion precise—Youmeishi discipline distilled into human form. A whisper of ritual magic hovered, invisible yet potent, ready to cleanse any darkness that dared approach.

“Someone’s jealous of my master again, huh?” Keika called, stepping into view in his transformed, taller, ancestral spirit form. The Rakugetsu Sword blazed with silver LingQi, trailing arcs of energy that cut the dusk like liquid light. “Lucky for you, I brought the fireworks.”

Ki’s gaze remained steady. “Focus, Keika. These spirits seek not only destruction but corruption. Do not underestimate them.”

“Underestimate? Pfft. I thought my flashy swordplay distracted you already.” Keika spun Rakugetsu, sparks scattering, the air thrumming. He flicked the blade near Ki’s side in a teasing arc, the tip brushing like a dare. “Enjoying the view, Youmeishi-sama?”

“I am always watching,” Ki replied, calm, measured, yet heavy with latent intensity. He lifted his palm, summoning a circle of ritual glyphs, sacred symbols glowing as he prepared to seal the approaching shadows.

The evil spirits surged, wailing and twisting, drawn to Ki’s immense spiritual power. Keika leapt, Rakugetsu slicing arcs of silver fire through the air. One spirit lunged, claws snapping, but Keika spun around it, landing a playful glance at Ki mid-strike. “Careful, big guy… or you’ll miss my good side,” he teased, sparks flicking along Ki’s robes, brushing him just enough to make their LingQi pulse.

Ki moved like a storm contained, precise and fluid. Shadows recoiled as ritual magic flared, glyphs exploding in controlled bursts of violet light. “Keika, left! Cover me!”

“Left flank, got it!” Keika bounded across jagged rocks, sword humming as he intercepted a clawed spirit mid-air, cleaving it in two. Sparks of LingQi scattered, illuminating the valley. He landed beside Ki, chest rising, green eyes sparkling with mischief. “See? Flashy and effective. Who says duty can’t be fun?”

Ki advanced, robes brushing stone, aura taut. “Duty demands efficiency. Fun is a luxury.”

“Luxury is dull,” Keika shot back, spinning Rakugetsu. “Fun is lethal.” He flicked the sword again, teasing Ki’s shoulder, then leaned in, whispering with a playful lilt, “And irresistible.”

The largest shadow surged, eyes molten, its roar shaking the cliffs. Ki’s aura flared, violet sparks crackling along his robes. “Keika, now!”

“Right here, Youmeishi!” Keika leapt, Rakugetsu carving a perfect arc, splitting the spirit into harmless specks. He landed beside Ki, chest heaving. “Flashy, lethal… and very, very mine,” he murmured, brushing a quick, teasing kiss along Ki’s jaw as he passed.

Ki’s storm-gray eyes flickered with rare intensity, violet sparks leaping. “You are effective. Do not let frivolity replace focus.”

“Effective and amazing. Perfect combo,” Keika said, brushing close enough for their LingQi to hum together, fingers teasing along Ki’s robes. “You’re welcome again.”

The wind stilled—Hinoki, granite, and faint smoke lingering in the air. Lanterns from the distant Tanmoku halls glowed like fireflies. Ki’s hand brushed the chain of Keika’s spirit binding rings, grounding them both. “Balance restored…Nothing will threaten this bond.”

Keika leaned in, audacious, lips near Ki’s ear. “Together, huh? Makes danger… way more fun.” He nudged Rakugetsu teasingly at Ki’s ribs, sparks trailing the tip, daring and intimate.

Ki’s violet flare softened, storm-gray eyes steady. “Together. Always.” Hands hovered over Keika’s wrists, possessive, claiming, steadying.

Keika smirked, brushing his cheek against Ki’s arm in a quick, teasing press. “Hmm… not bad for a Youmeishi. But admit it—you love having me this close.”

Ki’s lips curved faintly, rare and private. “As always. And as always, you remain… indispensable.”

The mountains bore witness to a vow no god could unmake—two souls bound by will and want, their LingQi thrumming through flesh and air alike. Within that charged, secret world, duty tangled with danger, and devotion blurred into play.
