Summary:

Richie goes overboard for Christmas and Eddie enables it.

Notes:

I’m so tired, I’m so behind. I’m on holiday but my niece is SOOOOO energetic and so I’m very exhausted but I’ve tried my best.

Might edit at a later date.

Work Text:

"ITS HERE! EDDIE ITS HERE!" Richie runs into the lounge with a large box, nearly slipping and falling on the ground as his socks glide on the linoleum.

"Rich, Jesus! Careful!" Eddie called out from the kitchen. He walks into the lounge where Richie is. "Wait, what's here? What did you order?" He said in a worried tone.

Richie didn't answer but ran into the kitchen, appearing with a pair of scissors a moment later.

"Richie! Didn't Maggie ever tell you NOT to run with scissors?!" Rolling his eyes, he muttered "we already survived Pennywise, can we try not tempting fate?" He didn't think that Richie heard him, until Richie turned around in haste.

Placing the scissors on the package as the package on the coffee table, Richie turns around to face Eddie. Wrapping his arms around Eddie's waist, he gently kisses his cheek, and his forehead before landing softly on his lips. "I'm sorry, baby. I'm just excited. It's been years since I've had a reason to celebrate Christmas." Smiling softly down at his boyfriend. Richie having been an only child, much like the majority of The Losers, but he took his parents passing very hard. Diving further into alcohol and drugs than he had before. Stints in and out of rehab like it was a part-time job. He really like he was drowning before reuniting with The Losers. Before reuniting with Eddie. It's been a difficult road to recovery but he knew that Eddie was waiting for him on the other side of it.

Eddie brought his hands up to wrap around the back of Richie's neck, one hand caressing his hairline "I'm excited too, sweetheart. I just want you to be more careful because I want so many more with you and birthdays and thanksgivings an-

"-and all the other major holidays and events. Especially Arbour Day right Ed's?" He winks suggestively, over-exaggerated "A perfect day to focus on your wood" wiggling his eyebrows up and down before Eddie covers them with one hand and his mouth with the other "God, I hate you" he says rolling his eyes before removing his hands and pecking him on the lips.

"Oh yeah, baby. Talk dirty to me, how much do you hate me?"

"You're so weird. Stop distracting me. What did you order?"

"Uh, only the BEST Christmas decoration anybody could want!" Richie nearly yelled, far too excited to focus on his volume.

"It's very big, should I be worried?"

"Firstly, thaaats what she said-"

"Rich, that doesn't work when we're both gay" he laughs

"And secondly! There is no need to worry, unless you don't want to be the envy of the whole neighbourhood"

"Oh no, tell me you didn't."

"Oh, no, I definitely did" Richie chuckles.

Eddie shakes his head with a smile. He'll put up a fuss but he and Richie both know that it's just routine at this point. It's what keeps their relationship fun. In all honesty, anything that makes Richie this happy and excited, makes Eddie feel the same way. He's just glad he gets to experience it with him.

It took a while to get up because of the size and because the instructions didn't help at all, because why would they?

So after an hour and a halves worth of bickering, they finally were able to stand back and look at the giant monstrosity sitting on their front lawn.

"Ok so in fairness, it definitely looks bigger than I thought it would" Richie admits.

"Richie, it says on the box that it's 20 feet tall"

It's now Richie's turn to playfully roll his eyes "Yeah, but you know how bad I am at visualising measurements. I knew it'd be big but damn, it's really is a unit! However, it's definitely not gonna cut it. We've gotta put more festivity into the rest of the property otherwise it's going to look so weird, just one giant inflatable snowman in the front yard."

"I swear to god Richie you better not buy another inflatable without my go-ahead" Eddie chuckles.

"Relax, Eds. We just gotta get some lights and maybe a sleigh for the roof, just little things to emphasise the magnificent beast standing before us. Oh! Eddie! There's a Christmas shop downtown! We've gotta go! They have so many options!"

"Ok, yes BUT we aren't going to go overboard! We're just getting some smaller things to accent it." Eddie warned.

Richie salutes Eddie "Sir, yes sir!"

Ok, so maybe Eddie got a little too excited when they got there and they ended up buying more than he would've liked…

Anything to keep his man happy.
