Leaves crunched on the ground as Krystal stepped on them angrily, a little huff of irritation coming out of her as she walked away.
"Baby.. I'm sorry na nga."
Krystal rolled her eyes and continued her walk towards her car. She knew she was being ridiculous, but she wanted to keep it up for as long as possible—until Caprice actually got sick of coaxing her.
"Hey, he's just a friend. Tina-try ko nga siya paalisin kanina eh. I'm sorry, please." Caprice ran to her front, blocking her from entering the car.
Krystal looked at Caprice.
Caprice gave her this look—her eyes wide and glassy, her lips pulled down to a pout, her eyebrows furrowed—and Krystal knew she was gonna give in immediately. She tried her damn hardest not to—by looking at everywhere and everything—but Caprice kept following her every sight.
Krystal tried to reach down to the handle to open the car door, but Caprice just wouldn't bug.
"C'mon, tingin ka sakin. Wala po 'yun, promise. Alam mo naman na sa'yo lang tingin ko. 'Wag ka na magalit, iiyak ako, sige." She pouted, then beamed at Krystal, her smile big and joyous.
Krystal sighed dramatically, then crossed her arms, before finally meeting her eyes. Right then and there, she melted. Caprice was looking at her so softly, her eyes holding a thousand emotions, conveying everything she felt—love.
"Sige na nga. Nakakainis lang talaga kasi eh. One day, I won't be able to control myself anymore."
Caprice breathed a sigh of relief, then wrapped her arms around Tala. She buried her face in her girlfriend's neck, smelling her scent that she's grown attached to and loved so much.
"Mahal kita, my star." Caprice whispered directly in her ear, voice gentle and full of fondness.
"I love you, Capcap."
They stayed there for a little longer, savoring the feeling of being wrapped in each other’s arms. A few moments later, Krystal kissed the top of her girlfriend's head–signaling her to go to the passenger seat.
"Wow. Walang pagbukas na door ngayon. Sorry na nga eh." Caprice said jokingly, proceeding to buckle her seatbelt.
Krystal kept a straight face, pulling out of the parking lot of their school and driving away.
Caprice didn't like silence, so she turned on the radio where a song—Invisible String—was playing, one of their songs.
An invisible string tied them together. Krystal told a story one day about how they already met before they became classmates. Young, careless, and full of innocence. They both couldn't remember as they were really young, but Krystal's mom had mentioned it—leading to her being curious. It was only recent that they knew about it.

"May namention si Mama kanina, bago ako umalis ng bahay."
They were both wrapped in each other's arms, cuddled in the back of Krystal's car where it was all arranged to be cozy. It was their monthsary, seven months into their relationship. Krystal prepared their favorite food, there were little fairy lights surrounding the small space, as well a speaker where it was playing the playlist Caprice made for them.
Caprice hummed in acknowledgement, nuzzling her face further into her girlfriend's neck. "Ano raw?"
"Nashock siya nung minention ko ikaw, sabi niya we used to have playdates when we were five years old. Cute, noh?"
Caprice paused, then turned to look at Krystal—shock evident in her face.
"What?" Caprice said loudly. "Wait, wait, wait. Ano? Full story, please."
Krystal chuckled, reaching out to pinch her cheek, melting at her cuteness.
"When we were five, we used to have playdates. Magkakilala raw si Mama and si Tita, they used to have this whole friendgroup when they were in high school. Hindi ko alam kung ano nangyari and why they aren't in contact anymore, but we were inseperable as kids daw—before you moved away."
Caprice audibly gushed, touched by that information. Then she smirked, "Itinadhana talaga tayo sa isa't isa."
Krystal laughed, wrapping her arms around her girlfriend, kissing her shoulder blade.
"Nai-imagine ko si little Krystal, siguro she would've done everything in her little body to protect me, ang kulit ko kasi dati. Parang ngayon lang, ganyan ginagawa mo sa'kin."
"Weh, feel ko naga-act tough nga yun. 'Di siya nagpapadala sa mga pa-cute mo." Krystal jokingly said, knowing damn well that she probably did do what Caprice said.
Caprice lightly smacked Krystal's arm, before rubbing it, "Okay, sige. Whatever. Cute siguro natin as kids, diba? Mga mukhang angel."
"Little Capcap." Krystal pinched her girlfriend's cheek again, watching her turn red.
Just as their chatter died down, a song played on the speaker.
Green was the color of the grass
Where I used to read at Centennial Park
I used to think I would meet somebody there
"We're tied together by an invisible string pala." Caprice smiled at her, Krystal returning it back.
They closed the distance between them, lips softly touching, as the song played in the background.
And isn't it just so pretty to think
All along there was some
Invisible string
Tying you to me?

"Hey, song natin." Caprice's voice was soft, as if she were replaying the precious moment in her head.
Krystal stared at her for a second, adoration clouding her eyes. She may look and act feisty and intimidating with most people, but with her Caprice, she becomes a completely different person. Caprice was her person, her soulmate, her bestfriend, and everything else.
They both hummed along to the song, Krystal driving with one hand and the other holding her girlfriend's hand, with the occasional thumb rubbing. They were on the way to a little cafe nearing the edge of the city—hoping to find peace and quiet after a whole week filled with deadlines and quizzes.
They reached the café and headed inside, taking their favorite seat in the place, where they'd had a plethora of dates before.
"Anything new you want, baby? Or same lang?" Krystal walked to the counter, taking out her wallet.
"Same lang, please," Caprice said, "Punta na ako sa booth natin."
Krystal nodded and ordered their drinks—a caramel macchiato for Caprice, a strawberry matcha for her—as well as she added a cheesecake and cookies to munch on as they passed time.
She went to the table with their orders, placing them, and sat down. Caprice smiled at her, and went on to telling Krystal about the rest of her day.
Krystal listened attentively, not once taking her eyes off of her as her girlfriend talked.

The sun had already set when they arrived at Caprice's house. Full and happy with the time they spent together.
"Thanks for the hatid and the food." Caprice walked to the gate.
"Thanks for the endless stories you told, nabusog ako." Krystal smiled, then extended her arms out for an invitation of a hug.
Caprice gladly melted into Krystal's arms—both her arms wrapped around her waist—Krystal having one hand around her shoulder and another on her waist, rubbing it gently.
"Text me when you're home. I love you." Caprice placed a chaste kiss on her girlfriend's lips, and another on her nose.
Krystal nodded, "I love you more, Capcap." She kissed her brow and waved a final goodbye, watching Caprice get inside the house before driving off.
