Work Text:

Tim has a list of the worsts moments of his life.

The list in order would be :
1. Losing Kon once.
2. Arriving too late for his father.
3. His time as the Joker Jr.

Funny thing is that his father is after Kon but can we really blame him ? Kon was with him most of the time, he supported him and his choices. Tim tried to bring him back way more than once, he had hope. His father however was barely present, he wanted to stop him from doing the only thing he loved and he married another woman than his mother. Dana was kind but too young for his father, way too different from his mother. Tim hated him during time like these.

Why are you flirting with someone else ? Why are we moving out of Gotham ? Why don't you want me to be Robin ? Why do you pretend when you barely care ? Still, he was his father. Even if some decisions might have been hypocritical his father was persuaded it was for his own good, he couldn't resolve himself to hate him, plus, he was his only direct family left.

Tim thought about the second one a bit less often as before, the first one almost killed him, but now Kon was back. The fear lingered but it stayed in his thoughts only.

But then the third one. It was worse in its own way. Joker Jr. was a new experience in all kind, something that haunted him. He didn't think much about it during the day, but at night ? God it was horrible. Today wasn't exception.

Tim had a rough patrol, per usual. He wasn't directly hurt, nothing more than a cut on the cheek but he was exhausted. It's been more than a week he didn't sleep more than two hours a day because they were busy trying to locate the guys who escaped from Arkham. The Penguin returned already, Killer Croc's position was known but they needed to come up with a plan. The Joker, though was still out and that ate him alive.

He took a particularly long shower when he came home. He had already eaten with Kon on a rooftop earlier so he stayed in his boxers and went to bed right away, the Super at his sides. Kon was already in bed, half asleep against the pillows in just a shirt and boxers. Tim joined him with a smile, he was cute like that. He loved their routine.

The Bat slipped under the sheets and nuzzled against his boyfriend whose arms automatically found place around him.

That's how he fell asleep, his forehead against Kon's chest and arms between them. It was peaceful like this, no sound could be heard but electricity going through the wires and a lamppost flickering outside.

That is a couple of hours later it went down. Tim was now on his side of the bed, facing the wall, Kon in the same position but there still was space between them. The Bat was sleeping well really but he came in, owning his thoughts. He remembered his laugh, high ptiched, could make his ears bleed. Then a smell, chemicals first then a softer one, raspberries ? Oh- that's his mama...

A bead of sweat trickled down his forehead, his breath was heavier too. He was at unease. He rolled over, blanket slipping on his body, on his bare torso and here is the last feeling. Pain. A sharp pain in his ribs that made him jolt awake, his breath cut. He gasped, uselessly trying to catch air.

At his sides Kon awoke too, rubbing his eyes before he caught on the situation. He put his hand down on Tim's arm, his other on his jaw. The young hero clenched his teeth so hard he could taste blood in his mouth, his teeth gritted.

"Hey, Tim...Look at me, sweetheart." Tim was looking at him, right in the eyes but he was stuck. His whole body went rigid, his eyes filled with tears. "It's just me..."

Kon stroke his jaw with his thumb, trying to relax his muscles at least, he could see blood on the inside of his lips.

"Baby you're hurting yourself." He said softly, not wanting to shake him.

Tim closed his eyes, trying to lean into Kon's touch, to focus on his voice and skin.

"That's just me...They're gone. He can't hurt you anymore." Kon lowered his hand to a scar on Tim's rib, and touched it delicately, replacing the pain he went through for something better. "That's my touch. That's just Kon..."

Tim whimpered and relaxed a bit, his jaw at least. Tears fell down but he didn't care. His body followed Kon's touch, relaxing into him. He felt like he could breath again, a long and deep breath after suffocating in his own thoughts. He parted his lips, a drop of blood dripped down, following the curve of his lower lip and his chin before Kon caught it and wiped it on his shirt.

The Bat looked at him consciously now, he wasn't as crispated, wasn't so rigid and Kon took him into his arm, burying his lover's face into his neck. Tim wrapped his arms around him tightly closing his fingers around his shirt until his joints were whites and the shirt clung to Kon's torso. He kept telling him words to reassure him, or just for the sake of making him hear his voice.

"You're so strong...My pretty boy, pretty Robin. You fought him."

Tim's tears fell down shamelessly into Kon's neck, his sobs louder too. That broke Kon's heart, to hear all that, to know how bad he was feeling without being able to do much. Tim didn't cry much, there must be something about being a Bat and not showing his feelings but he almost never did it. Though he felt freer before Kon, nothing to be ashamed of. The Super showed himself under every angle of his personality, that was only fair Tim did the same.

Tim moved from Kon's neck enough to face him and sniffled. His eyes were puffed, his cheeks wet and nose runny. Kon didn't care and cupped his face instead, his thumb tracing his lower lip to see the amount of blood.

"That's just a dream. A bad one. But look at me, now. I'm here. He's not." Tim nodded weakly, more like just a tilt of head. It wasn't the first time, probably not the last. He wanted to apologise but every time he did Kon refused him to so he said nothing at all.

Tim took a deep breath and lied back down, dragging Kon with him. He was still in a weird state, something between shock and still trying to detetct reality from dreams and lies. Kon went on top of him, his chin on his chest.

"How do you feel ?" His hands were on Tim's hips while Tim's were in his hair. He needed an anchor. He shrugged.

"Dunno. Empty...Thirsty."

"Do you want me to fetch you something to drink ?" Kon asked, but the other shook his head negatively, he didn't want him anywhere but here. The Super was a source of comfort, of warmth too, his whole body radiated.

He raised one of his hands again to Tim's mouth.

"Lemme see where you're hurt. Open your mouth, please." Tim did as asked, his eyes closed while Kon checked. He bit his tongue with his molar then a bit further on the tip with his incisors and it bled at bit on both places. "You're a menace, baby. How can I treat this, hmm ?" Tim shrugged again, he didn't care much.

Instead Kon rolled over and kept him in his arms so they could switch their position and have him on top then tugged the blanket to cover him.

"I don't think I can sleep. I don't want to." Tim said. He was so tired, exhausted and his voice hoarse from the sobs and tears he previously shed.

"You don't have to, I'll stay here all night. We can talk if you want to." His fingers wandered into Tim's hair, stroking his scalp with the tip of his digits without using his nails. Tim wanted to say no again, he didn't need Kon to stay awake the whole night with him but the half-Kryptonian didn't need to sleep anyway.

"Did I ever tell you the time Gar tried to spy on me as a bee ?"
