This Man's a Heart Attack Waiting to Happen ;_;

Summary:

Kosak would very much like to smother his summoner in a weighted blanket and at least ten tons of bubble wrap please!

Or

Kosak doesn't realize he's starting to pine and just thinks he's starting to become a tad overprotective instead.

Notes:

This takes place in Manhwa ch 7 or Novel ch. 9 (which is a bit different from the Manhwa BTW! Its kinda cool how Bong– lets call him, LN!Bong– is more proactive and brave there than in the webtoon.)

Also! This was written pre Novel chapter 15. Toon ch. 8.

Might make this a series, as more chapters come out, who knows?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Kosak sliced through another goblin with a flourish before roundhouse kicking another off to the side with a giddy laugh.

This! This was his environment!

Kosak always did his best while out on the field. Stalking, watching…killing. He thrived whenever his hands gripped a blade, and then, when the blood that flowed from his enemies' cuts splattered the ground….Kosak would grin.  His face forming into his signature fox-like smile, eyes curved into a crescent shape. It was times like these that the brunette always felt like his ‘death’ back in his original world was not an actual end…but a beginning.

Or at least, those were his thoughts until he sensed a goblin coming at him at rather frightening speeds just to the right and behind of himself. Wasting no time, Kosak ends yet another green menace with a quick x-cut and watches with some satisfaction as the thing was dispatched in a shower of parts and blood. Looking up, Kosak spotted his summoner heaving lightly with wide eyes, one leg still in the air. Indicating that the other male had kicked  it away. ‘How amazing!’ Kosak thought with a further deepening of something that had his formally rock heart palpate an extra beat before it clicked. His summoner had discovered his courage!

Oh.

His summoner, Bong, had discovered his courage….

Oh no.

Kosak's eyes widened just enough for his blue eyes to peek through as he quickly shadow stepped his way to the other's side.

“SUMMONER BONG! Are you alright?! Those wretched things didn't harm you, right?! You're not hurt anywhere, right?”

Kosak's hands hovered a little away from the other male's hoodie clad form with indecision. The other never minded when he touched him, but Kosak was loath to potentially cause any damage if the other was actually injured.

While he dithered, Juhyeok huffed a shaky laugh and lightly ruffled his messy black hair. His eyes were resolutely not looking anywhere near Kosak's vicinity.

“What haha? No? I-I'm not injured. Really! I'm fine!”

Kosak can feel his eyebrows furrow as he takes a step into the shorter male's personal space. He's not necessarily angry, at least, not entirely. Mostly, he was relieved. He was relieved that Bong was uninjured, he was relieved that he would continue to be summoned into the ‘above’ world, but above all? He was relieved that his summoner,  someone he was slowly growing to enjoy the company of, was safe

Kosak stares down at the lightly fidgeting blackette in silence and for the briefest of moments, remembers his old summoner.  That foolishly brave and strong man. He had been a force to be reckoned with.

Someone to admire.

A natural leader…a short lived one.

Kosak would not let this summoner die. Not under his care. With that, the brunette tilts his head just enough so his usually closed eyes can look into Bong's wide, dark eyes.

“Tell me, what were you thinking?” Kosak doesn't quite plead, but his tone is in no way gentle. “I told you! Leave everything to me! Don't risk your life, it's better to run away, and live another day! So why did you…?”

Bong quickly shakes his hands in front of himself with a flustered air.

“I…! I um…w-well…” Bong stutters before letting hus mouth close with a resigned click.

He…did not actually have a great reason. (Or so he thought) Bong was simply trying to not feel like dead weight to the other man. Even if logically, he knew that as a ‘SUMMONER’ he was basically made to stand back…it just, didn't sit right with him. Letting Kosak do all the damage while he did nothing but stand there? No! Bong was done trying to live like a wallflower. He wanted to be recognized for his own strengths too! And for that? He needed to actually know how to fight! Or–

“...At least defend himself…” Bong unknowingly mumbles the last part aloud which causes Kosak's eyes to widen at the quiet words.

Well, that wouldn't do now would it?

Kosak was all for smothering his summoner in a weighted blanket and at least five tons of bubble wrap…but not to the detriment of the other male's already shakily small (perceived) self-worth.

With a sigh, Kosak steps back a bit from Bong's personal space. Not a lot, but enough for them both to breath, and for the taller male to gently lay a hand on the other's shoulder and say:

“Summoner-nim…If you insist on doing it this way…then at the very least, please wait until you have a full set of equipment. That includes some sort of shield, please. It would…ease my mind some.”

At his words, Bong's eyes widened as a shine entered his eyes. With a happy flush, Bong agrees just as the duo are transported back to his small apartment having long since cleared the floor.

Time would soon tell if Kosak encouraging the other male would lead to hope, or ruin.

Notes:

END NOTE: So, its kind of shippy? But also…kind of not? I don't know.
Anyways! A Wimps Strategy Guide has me on a choke hold. And whoever designed Kosak in the Manhwa? *chief kiss* Perfection! I love fox eyed characters. (They're always so well designed 💕)

Please tell me what you think! (No, seriously, I need to know.)
