Work Text:
Your idiot of a man is practically pulling your arm out of your socket, as you race to catch up with him. Both of you are beelining towards the tour bus along with his idiot band member buddies and the bus driver.
After a night of debauchery, the hotel staff had become furious with the men. Currently, the head manager was chasing after everyone. You couldn’t hear what he was shouting amongst the men’s laughter.
Trent flings open the door to the bus, shoving you inside. You quickly climb onto the couch, not wanting to get crushed by the band members rushing in. Robin plops down next to you, resting his head against your shoulder and laughing his ass off.
“Drive man, drive!” Trent shouts as he slams the door close behind him. The bus roars to life, quickly leaving the manager behind in its dust. Your boyfriend quickly takes his place next to you, giggling while catching his breath.
“I…” You can’t help but laugh yourself, finally safe from the ire of the staff “I told you guys that we were gonna get kicked out if you kept being assholes!”
“Hey, he was bein’ an asshole first!” Danny fires back, a dopey grin never leaving his face.
“I don’t care if he was! What if he calls the next hotel we try to stay in?”
Trent mimics a phone before ‘talking into it’ “Hey, don’t let that super popular band with a bunch of money stay at your hotel!” He gives a quick kiss to your cheek. “Baby, you worry too much.”
“Well, someone needs to!”
“Man, you’re gonna make your ol’ lady have a heart attack before the tour’s over.” Robin chuckles, finally calming down.
“You-hell, all of you don’t need to follow along with Trent’s stupid ideas.”
“But they’re fun! You don’t need to be our mom all the time!” Danny whines, giving a fake pout.
“Yeaahh, dontcha want us to have fun?” Robin follows his lead, pouting up at you.
You roll your eyes…but can’t stay mad at any of them for long. “I mean…that was pretty fun.”
Robin wraps an arm around you, hugging you. “Hell yeah it was! Trent-! Trent?”
You both look over at your man. Out cold. It had been a long night after all.
“Speakin’ of following along with Trent…” Danny went deeper into the bus to pass out.
You look back at Robin “You gonna join his lead too?” “Are you?”
You had been able to rest during some of the debauchery so you shake your head. “I’ll probably be up for a couple more hours.”
“Same here. You wanna do somethin’ to Trent for passing out on us?”
A wide variety of ideas passed through your head, but for once…you had a simple ‘prank’ in mind. “You know, I’ve been wanting to braid his hair for a while.”
“He hasn’t let you?” “Not yet, the little shit. You think he’ll be annoyed if I do that while he sleeps?”
Robin shrugs. “He’d be annoyed if we braided his hair to a pole or somethin’. Is that really all you wanna do?”
You shrug. “Yeah.”
He stands up, stretching. “Cool, let me go grab a hair tie.”
As Robin heads over to his suitcase, you watch Trent sleep. You met a few months before the tour started at a local venue and jumped at the chance to join his journey across the country. You’ve never had such fun before in your life. You brush a few stray hairs away from his face before kissing the tip of his nose.
Robin returns with a hairbrush and some hair ties. Thankfully, only a car crash could wake him at this point. You pull your man closer and start to brush his hair out.
Robin takes a seat across from you two. “So, you likin’ spending all your time with us?”
“Somehow yeah. Don’t wanna kill any of you guys yet.”
He smiles. “Yet. I’m sure that day will come soon. You don’t even wanna kick Trent’s ass?”
“Nah, he’s fine.” “He’s been a good boyfriend to ya?”
You smile, and nod. “Best one I’ve had. Hopefully the last.”
“…he’s really head over heels for you. Dude’s scared to lose you.”
You put the hair brush aside, and begin to give the sleeping man a french braid. “Really? Why?”
“Nights like tonight. He put you through a lot, y’know?”
“Hey, if I didn’t want it, I’d say so. Unlike some of the guys I’ve seen around him, I’m not afraid to tell him no. Plus, I know he’ll listen to me.”
Robin brings his knees up to his chest, hugging his legs. “Doesn’t stop him from worrying about it. Worrying about you.”
“We’ll be fine. I’ll be fine…you have any ideas on how to reassure him?”
He shakes his head before yawning. “Hard to get any new ideas through his thick skull. Especially if they could help counteract his negative thinkin’.”
As Robin falls asleep on his seat, you finish the braid. Letting him rest his head against your breasts.
For some reason, the bus crawls to a stop and shuts off. You carefully help Trent lay down on the couch before investigating.
The bus had pulled into a rest stop as the driver groggily headed towards the restrooms.
In the grass nearby there were several bunches of dandelions. You decided to grab as many as you could before the driver was finished doing their business.
Returning to the couch, you let Trent rest his head on your lap. You slipped a few dandelions into his hair before making flower crowns with the rest. Finishing two of them before your boyfriend wakes up.
“Mornin’ baby.” You greeted him before tapping his nose gently. “Got a surprise for you.”
He smiled up at you. “A surprise? Wh-“ He goes to run his hand through his hair and touches one of the dandelions instead. He quickly sits up. “What the fuck?”
You grab your mirror out of your purse and hand it to him.
“I think you look pretty, babe.”
“I…” He takes a good look at his hair. “I don’t look as ugly as I thought I would.”
You roll your eyes at him, then put one of the finished crowns on his head. “For my king.”
His cheeks get rosy as he admires your handiwork. A glance over to the other crown and he’s already placing it on top your head. “For my queen.”
You giggle and look into the mirror together, touching cheeks.
“I’m sorry that I dunno how to braid, baby.” “It’s fine, I can teach you tonight.” “Really?” “Of course, my king.”
You set the mirror down, and gaze at him.
“I love you, Trent.”
“I love you too, my queen.”
He caresses your cheek before pulling you into a kiss. Simple and sweet.
The flash of a camera goes off, and you two glare over at Robin. Beaming at both of you, as happy as could be while holding your camera. Apparently Robin remembered you saying how much you wanted to take photos of you and Trent together during the tour.
“How long have you been up, man?” you ask. “Not very.”
“If you share that with the other guys, I’m gonna-“ “I’ll stash it somewhere safe! Just let me take a couple more for you two.”
Trent “reluctantly” agrees and Robin takes a better photo of Trent’s braid then a couple more of you two.
The men start to wake up, and you help Trent as he rushes to undo the braid. He had “an image to uphold” after all. By the time they join you, his hair’s flowing and free of flowers. You’ve resumed making flower crowns as he watches you, head resting on your shoulder.
They enjoy the crowns but you wonder how long it’ll be until one of them rips them apart for fun. You managed to pick enough flowers for all but one to have a crown.
Trent forgoes getting a crown (again), placing the last one on your head. “You keep it, baby. Looks better on you.”
“I think you’d look good with one on.” Robin teases. Trent flips the bird at him and the men start laughing again.
At least you three know the truth.
