Chapter Text
The white screen illuminated the room, striking their faces filled with anger and disappointment. They all stood frozen, staring at the place where Caine had been just a minute ago.
As Jax looked at the red button he had just pressed, he felt his vision slowly blur.
Ragatha: “Caine deceived us…”
Jax slowly turned around. His eyes met Ragatha’s tired eyes.
A scream trembling with rage sliced through the tense silence like a knife.
Zooble: “I’LL KILL YOU!”
Zooble lunged toward Jax in a sudden move. At the same time, Ragatha and Gangle grabbed onto their arms. The more they pulled them back, the more Zooble struggled, reaching toward Jax and throwing punches into the air.
Zooble: “WHY DID YOU PRESS THE RED BUTTON, YOU [@?&/-!]?!”
Gangle: “Zooble, calm down!”
Zooble: “YOU WORTHLESS [@?&/-!]!”
Ragatha: “Hey, hey, hey! ZOOBLE, STOP!!!”
Kinger and Pomni rushed in to stop Zooble as well. While Kinger tried to hold Zooble back, Pomni stepped between them and Jax to form a barrier.
Jax was just… watching.
He was even waiting, as if expecting Zooble to break free from the others and reach him.
Pomni: “Zooble, none of it was real! There’s no need for this! Just—”
Zooble: “HOW DO WE KNOW IT WASN’T REAL? HOW CAN YOU BE SO SURE? HOW COULD THIS [@?&/-!] BE SO SURE?! HE DISREGARDED ALL OF US! HE CHOSE TO BETRAY US! WHY DID YOU DO THIS?!”
Pomni looked at Jax’s face. That face… looked as innocent as a child’s.
Of course, it only looked that way.
He was guilty. Maybe he even deserved to be beaten by Zooble. But still…
Pomni tore her gaze away from Jax’s empty stare and fixed it on Zooble instead.
Pure rage.
That was the best word to describe this aggression.
And no one could blame them for it.
Zooble: “UGHHH! LET GO OF ME!”
Zooble stopped struggling, wrenching themselves out of the hands that held them.
They took a deep breath and slowly walked toward Jax.
Zooble: “Selfish [@?&/-!]. I hope you realize what you’ve done. Because just now, you lost all of our trust.”
As Zooble stormed away with a low growl, the others followed.
Zooble’s words, however, remained hanging in the air.
