Work Text:
The workshop looks a bit like a disaster zone when Momo peers through the door on Saturday morning, parts strewn everywhere and Mei humming cheerfully to herself as she flits back and forth between worktables.
"Please tell me you slept," she says, already knowing the answer before the words leave her mouth.
There are dark circles under Mei's eyes when she tilts her head and shoves her goggles up. They could, Momo thinks to herself, be from either lack of sleep or engine grease. It's always a little difficult to tell, with Mei.
"Sleep? Why would I sleep?" Mei demands. She rubs her hands together, a gleeful look in her eyes, before slapping her palms down against the worktable in front of her. "Weekends are the only uninterrupted time I get to work on my babies!"
"I knew I shouldn't have left you last night," Momo sighs. She and Mei had spent the whole evening in here together, Mei working on her inventions and Momo studying the inner workings of various machines so she could create them at will. It had, in short, been the perfect Friday date night. "You promis—wait, what are you doing?"
Mei blinks at her, startled, a glass of something raised partway to her mouth. That might not have been a problem, if the glass wasn't filled with something that looked more like fuel than anything else. She frowns when she looks down at it. "You're not coffee," she says reproachfully to the glass.
"I'm…not sure coffee's what you need right now," Momo says, reaching out to pluck the glass from her girlfriend's hand. Yup, definitely some sort of fuel. She sets it back down on the table and then circles around until she's standing behind Mei. Dropping her hands on Mei's shoulders, she steels her towards the door. "Come on. You need a nap, and I have a couple of hours before my work study starts."
"Wait," Mei says after a moment in which she surprisingly doesn't resist. She turns her head. "My dorm is that way."
"We're going to my room," Momo says decisively.
"Hmm…that would be more efficient," Mei muses. "Your room is three hundred metres closer than mine, which means that I'll be able to get back to the workshop at least five minutes more quickly—"
"Sure," Momo agrees evasively, since Mei seems to be coming along without any trouble. "That's exactly what I was thinking."
