“It’ll happen,Mycroft. Stop trying to rush it,” Anthea said as she moved to the edge of the bed to put her shoes on.
“But what if it doesn’t?” The genius asked, sounding unusually vulnerable.
Anthea sat back up and took Mycroft’s hands.
“Just because Carter,an idiot,didn’t want to have sex with you doesn’t mean no one does,okay? You’re gorgeous,Mycroft,there are definitely people that want to fuck you.”
“Carter is an idiot,” Mycroft agreed. “I can’t believe I was with him for so long. It just- it feels like everyone has lost their virginity apart from me and,out of our friends,I was seeing someone the longest. We’re teenagers! I thought everyone was supposed to be horny and sleep around all the time.”
Anthea took a deep breath,she wasn’t going to argue with him,he was right,he was the last person in their group of friends that was a virgin. She knew how hurt he was when his ex had turned him down the way he had and how desperate he was to experience what so many of his classmates already had.
“Okay,” Anthea began. “I might be able to help you.”
Mycroft’s face contorted into a mix of confusion and poorly masked disgust as he tried to figure out what she meant. He was desperate but he wasn’t sleep-with-his-female-best-friend desperate.
“Not like that!” Anthea laughed. “I’m a lesbian and you’re gay,in what world would that be a good solution?”
Mycroft chuckled. “If that’s not what you meant then what did you mean?”
“My cousin moved back to the UK yesterday,he’s gay and a bit of a,well,a bit of a slag,if i’m honest. If you really want to do this now,he’d probably help you out.”
Anthea felt a bit gross pimping out her cousin but she knew Greg well enough to know he’d take one look at Mycroft and go after him anyway,she was just speeding things along.
Mycroft considered the proposal for a while,mentally running over the pros and cons before sighing and turning back to his friend.
“I can’t sleep with someone I’ve never met,” he said,weakly. “Not to mention the fact that he’d be doing it out of pity.”
“He wouldn’t sleep with you if he didn’t want to,Mycroft. He’s not like that. I’ll introduce you first,if you don’t like him nothing has to happen,if you do,you have my blessing to bone my cousin.”
Mycroft laughed and rolled his eyes playfully.
“I guess meeting him won’t hurt.”
“Great!” Anthea squealed,clapping her hands together excitedly. “I’m going to see him in a minute so I’ll ask him when he’s free to meet you.”
The two of them made their way downstairs and Anthea’s mum called up saying they were leaving.
“Anthea?” Mycroft asked as walked down the driveway.
“Yeah?”
“If I do sleep with him,who am I going to tell all the gory details to? He’s your cousin!”
Anthea hadn’t considered that. When she lost her virginity,the first thing she did was tell Mycroft everything,in more detail than he probably wanted. She’d always imagined Mycroft doing the same when his time came.
She and Greg,the closest cousins in age,just four days apart,had always spoken freely about their lives,including bits and pieces about their sex lives. It had never felt weird to confide in her cousin,after all he did the same,but she wasn’t sure she’d want to hear the level of detail Mycroft would want to give.
“If you do,you can tell me and I’ll stop you if you’re grossing me out. Deal?” She stuck her hand out as her dad locked the door and told her to get in the car.
Mycroft shook her hand, “deal.”
They hugged goodbye and the Lander family set off to the new home of the Lestrade’s.
