Star Wars Episode X: Defense of the Homestead (The Kala Protocol)

Summary:

The war with the First Order is over, but the Force is glitching. A mysterious biometric signal, buried deep beneath the shifting sands of Tatooine, is calling Rey back to where it all began. Rey returns to the abandoned Lars Homestead only to find it is not as empty as she thought. Waiting for her is a 90-year-old Beru Lars, the last guardian of a secret that has been hidden for generations. Beneath the desert floor lies the high-tech sanctuary of Dr. Gaian Kala (the woman known as Shmi Skywalker), the mastermind who engineered the Trinity Genome. As the remnants of the First Order descend on the homestead to seize the ultimate biological blueprint, Rey must face the truth of her own existence: she is not a Palpatine, nor a random scavenger. She is the "Renewal" of Anakin Skywalker—a 100% DNA match designed as the Force’s final System Restore. In a battle where ancient technology meets the power of the Force, Rey and Beru must defend the legacy of Dr. Kala and decide if the "Chosen One" should ever be manufactured again.

Notes:

Welcome to Star Wars Episode X: Defense of the Homestead (The Kala Protocol).

As a fan who felt the Sequel Trilogy left too many unanswered questions, I wanted to create a 'Core Idea' that fixes the logic of the entire saga—from the 'No Father' mystery of Episode 1 to the identity of Rey in Episode 9. This isn't just a short story; it is a comprehensive 3-Hour Movie Outline designed to bridge the gap between ancient Force mysticism and high-stakes genetic science.

The heart of this 'Fix-it' is the introduction of Dr. Gaian Kala (the woman known as Shmi Skywalker), a rogue scientist whose 'Project Anakinosis' redefined the Skywalker bloodline. This story picks up several years after Episode 9, focusing on a 90-year-old Beru Lars and a truth buried beneath the sands of Tatooine.

This is the foundation of the Kala-verse. I hope you enjoy the technical and emotional 'patch' to the galaxy far, far away.

Work Text:

EPISODE X: THE KALA PROTOCOL
Core Theme: "Science gave us life, but our choices give us purpose."
ARC 1: Return to the Source (Chapters 1–3)
• Chapter 1: Desert Resonance. Set several years after the events of Episode 9. Rey begins to experience a "glitch" in her connection to the Force. Something is pulling her back to Tatooine—not out of nostalgia, but due to a biometric signal activated deep beneath the sands.
• Chapter 2: The Old Woman in the Night. Upon arriving at the abandoned Lars Homestead, Rey reunites with the old woman (Beru). Beru reveals her true purpose: "I have been waiting, Rey. Not because you are a Skywalker, but because it is time for the final 'update' of Project Anakinosis."
• Chapter 3: Entering the Vault. Beru reveals a hidden entrance beneath Owen’s old workshop. For the first time, Rey enters the high-tech, sterile laboratory of Dr. Gaian Kala—a facility last opened during the time of Shmi.
________________________________________
ARC 2: The Genetic Revelation (Chapters 4–7)
• Chapter 4: The Ghost Curriculum. A holographic recording of Dr. Gaian Kala is activated. Rey hears the voice of Anakin’s "mother" for the first time. Gaian explains the Trinity Genome and how she locked all her technology to Anakin’s specific DNA.
• Chapter 5: The Liar of Exegol. Data records reveal that Gaian knew Palpatine would attempt to replicate her work. It is revealed that Palpatine was merely a "copycat" without the original files; Rey—as a 100% DNA match of 9-year-old Anakin—is the only successful "Renewal" whose true origin remained hidden from Palpatine.
• Chapter 6: The Secret of Jakku. Through a flashback from Beru’s POV, the truth of Rey's childhood is revealed. The "nobodies" Kylo Ren spoke of were actually decoy droids or mercenaries hired by Owen and Beru to pose as Rey’s parents and misdirect the Sith.
• Chapter 7: The Final Experiment. Rey learns the true reason for her creation: she was designed to be the Force’s "System Restore." She is a being without the bias of Jedi or Sith—pure science and perfect balance.
________________________________________
ARC 3: The Final Trial and Legacy (Chapters 8–12)
• Chapter 8: Pursuit of the Remnants. Survivors of the First Order loyalists intercept the signal from the Kala Lab. They launch an assault on the homestead to seize the "Perfect Blueprint"—Rey’s DNA.
• Chapter 9: Defense of the Homestead. Beru’s true skills are showcased as she utilizes security traps hidden by Owen and advanced technology left by Gaian to defend the lab. This is not just a battle of the Force, but a battle of superior technology.
• Chapter 10: The Shutdown. Rey decides that the power of Force genetic engineering is too dangerous for anyone to possess. She chooses to delete all of Gaian’s data to free the galaxy from the "manufacturing" of Chosen Ones.
• Chapter 11: The Message to the Future. Before the lab is erased, Rey leaves a new "Protocol"—a teaching that the Force should be allowed to flow naturally, free from laboratory control.
• Chapter 12: Sunset of the Twin Suns. In the final scene, Beru finally finds peace, her long duty as the Guardian complete. Rey walks away carrying the ultimate truth: she is Rey Skywalker, the "Renewal" of Anakin, and the final masterpiece of Dr. Gaian Kala.

Notes:

Thank you for reading the core arcs for Defense of the Homestead.

My goal was to turn the 'Rey Skywalker' name into a biological reality rather than just a chosen title. By making her the genetic twin of Anakin (the Renewal), the lightsaber’s call finally makes sense, and the sacrifice of the Lars family gains a new, heroic layer.

This outline is currently for Episode 10, but the journey truly begins with Episode 0: Project Genesis Zero, which explores Dr. Gaian Kala's escape from the Sith.
