Chapter Text
Dark and cold, that's how it felt in the dorm room. The moon was still shining in the pitch black of the night as it illuminated the dorm room and the person who slowly got up to go to the bathroom.
Water rushed out of the bathroom sink as it splashed over the face and tired eyes of Midoriya Izuku as he looked back in the mirror. He looked at himself as he thought about what just happened in his nightmare.
The nightmares had become more frequent for Izuku than ever. They started after he defeated All for One and lost One for All. They showed him a future where he became a teacher, where he was forgotten.. where nothing felt like it could stop the pain of being alone... Izuku knew he wasn't supposed to want... he gave that up with his quirk.
It was a beautiful and sunny spring day outside. The sun shone across the trees and grass in a relaxing and warm way that lit up the leaves of trees and blades of grass in a vibrant way while the wind breezed through them softly.
The scenery was peaceful or it was before the shouting and grunts, the sounds of fighting as bodies got hit by punches and kicks, before the sounds of explosions came from through the air as quirks collided with one another and buildings collapsed.
Class 2-A or formerly known as 1-A was filled with the energy of war and the resolve to save lives as their first semester rescue training exercise continued.
The beginning of a new school year meant that their teacher, Aizawa Shota, would test the students combat and rescue skills after break. Though under previous circumstances the U.S.J. building had been one of bad villain encounters, he hoped to make it better than the last time just letting his students get some practice in to learn where to improve as they also had the addition of Hitoshi Shinso to the class after the departure of Aoyama Yuga.
Standing next to the already exhausted teacher was his fellow teacher, a figure of hope, helping to oversee and train their students towards greatness.
That figure of hope was none other than All Might himself. Or rather Yagi Toshinori. The former Number One Hero and Symbol of Peace.
hough he may not be the imposing threat he once was, his grin and his eyes that sought justice and righteousness remained as they commanded power.
"The students seem to be doing well, but there's certainly some areas we can improve on, wouldn't you agree Aizawa?"
"Yes Toshinori, while they all seem to be doing good in this training exercise, they can always improve.. though Hitoshi will need some more help than the rest"
Their eyes watched from the screens of monitors as their students ran to fight heroes acting like villains for the exercise and rescue the civilian actors getting them to safety. Though Aizawa didn't want to admit it, he was a little proud as he watched his class try to do things as safely and efficiently as they could, which is why he chose to continue teaching them even though they should have gotten a new teacher and Yagi's help was setting them on the right path.
Aizawa's eyes eventually came across one student, and that was Midoriya as he ran through a field carrying civilians to the safe zone before running to a new area filled with explosions going off before Ashido Mina came in the view. "What was going to happen once his embers ran out?" The thought rattled in his head sometimes as he watched the student, Midoriya was different, Aizawa knew that very well, "but how far can he push himself before the embers ran out?" he wondered.
Ashido Mina found herself in the industrial district fighting off villain bots as her acid tore through their metal shells and exposed them before they eventually exploded around her from their a part of their self destruct sequence. To Mina it was like a dance as she weaved through the air shooting acid on them as they exploded in a harmonious symphony of destruction.
The industrial district had been evacuated by Mina, Kirishima, and Hagakure as the other two took the last of the civilians after Mina shouted energetically "This is going to be light work I'll destroy them all! I'll catch up with you guys!" before the two hesitantly left her to destroy the rest of the villain bots.
Mina'a acid was burning through all of them like nothing before she saw Midoriya waving his hands, pointing at her as he was running before she quickly shouted to him "Hey Midori this districts all clear!" before she could finally hear Midoriya's shouts "ASHIDO BEHIND YOU!" before she quickly whipped her body around before she got backhanded by the biggest villain bot yet as she felt a pain her arm before seeing a wall.
"ASHIDO!" Izuku shouted as he watched Mina go flying into a wall getting knocked out before he quickly turned towards the villain bot just like the one he had defeated at the entrance exam and with what little embers he had left almost pushing his limits, he activated them up putting the power in his feet sending himself flying towards the head of the bot.
Izuku destroyed the villain bots head with a powerful punch like it was a training dummy doll as it exploded mid air right before the explosion that followed it from the chest of the robot surprised Izuku sending him flying all the way down towards Mina and into a piece of metal that slightly cut his arm open as blood dripped out.
"AGGHH" Izuku winced looking at his arm seeing the blood filling the open cut before shifting his attention to Mina realizing she must have hit the same piece of metal as she had a cut on her arm too but it was much bigger and deeper bleeding out more. Izuku brought himself up to his feet with the energy that was starting to run out of his body as he looked over at her before muttering "I need to get her to the safe zone quick before it gets worse, to Recovery Girl so she can heal this" scooping up Mina into his arms struggling a little bit as his own arm was bleeding.
Izuku was running towards the safe zone and could start to see it in his sight as he was carrying Mina in a bridal carry as she was fading in and out "M-Midori w-what happened?" Izuku looked down at her for a moment as he could start to see she was freaking out a little bit from the sight of her arm bleeding as red blood and clear liquid ran down her arm and Midoriya's.
"One of those villain bots m-managed to get behind you Ashido and it knocked you out, but I destroyed it" Izuku said as his face of worry grew a little bit as the sight of the safe zone was there but he could get there faster.
"A-Ashido hold on I'm going to use the last of my embers it'll get us to the safe zone faster" as his grip around Mina got a little tighter and her grip on him got tighter he could feel the surge of energy start to shoot inside his body and down towards his legs.
The sensation of pure power and as he forced that energy in his legs to run faster.
That feeling of burning hitting him.
Before the pain started and became overwhelming instantly drowning him.
As the sensation of power turned, he could feel his nerves being torn apart.
Izuku screamed out as it all hit him and he could hear start to hear the screaming coming from Mina.
Fire.
FIRE.
"AAAAGGHHHH"
Their bodies became engulfed in flames as it spread all over them, Izuku instantly fell to his knees, dropping Mina as fire spread on the grass around them.
"MIDORI IT BURNNS"
Izuku looked at Mina as they were both crying out in a violent pain, shaking and thrashing everywhere trying to put out the fire on themselves before she crashed into his chest, clawing at his chest as he could barely see the tears that began pouring out her eyes through his own blurry vision of tears.
The entirety of Class 2-A and their conversations with the actor civilians they rescued came to a halt, the screams they heard instantly caught their attention as their gazes fell upon the spot where Izuku and Mina were.
Izuku and Mina went from normal in one second to engulfed in flames the next, screaming out in cries of pain.
Their cries of pain instantly sent Aizawa and Yagi into alarm before Aizawa shouted at Todoroki "TODOROKI PUT THE FIRE OUT!" as they ran towards Izuku and Mina.
Todoroki mixed his fire and ice powers dousing them in water before the fire on their bodies was quickly put out.
Yagi shouted out "YOUNG MIDORIYA! ASHIDO!" to the both of them as he shook their arms which were intertwined as they laid together. "Whatever the hell just happened, They need to see Recovery Girl" Aizawa told Yagi before he grabbed the both of them with his scarf capture weapon running towards the U.S.J. exit.
Class 2-A could only watch in silence, chattering as murmurs spread about what happened as their two classmates were being rushed off by Aizawa-Sensei towards the exit.
