Chapter Text
It was a normal day for once at the X-Mansion.
It was even a beautiful late afternoon outside.
Kids were enjoying their day off hanging out in the common room, in their own rooms, or in the Danger Room practicing with their powers. Though the last one was the least likely to happen.
And the X-Men were most likely doing the same thing.
As for Ororo?
She was in her room lying on her bed on her stomach as she was engrossed in her book “The 9th Girl."
Suddenly she heard a knock at the door.
Ororo internally groaned.
Peace still never lasted, even on supposed days off.
“Who is it?” She called closing the book.
“It’s Jean. Can I come in?”
Ororo smiled.
“Jeannie. You know you’re always welcome. You’ve been in here how many times?” She teased
Jean opened the door but leaned against the doorway.
“Hey now, I’m being polite!” She feigned offense.
Ororo giggled.
“Touché. Anyways, what brings you in here? Not hanging out with Scott today?”
Jean rolled her eyes at the teasing.
“Ahem. For one, he is literally my husband, and two, I was hanging out with him until he and the professor ended up having a discussion.”
Ororo raised a brow.
“Oh? Is something wrong?”
Jean shook her head.
“Quite the opposite actually. They sent me to get you because…we have a new member coming in today.”
Ororo perked up with interest.
“Really?! Who is it?!”
Jean looked out to the hallway, gazing left to right as if making sure nobody overheard their conversation, before moving the door until it was open only a crack.
“Do you remember the story I told you about how Scott, Kurt, Moira, Peter, Raven, Hank, and I ended up at that facility twenty years ago and came across a feral mutant and how I restored some of his memories and he left? Logan was his name."
Ororo nodded.
Jean took a deep breath.
“Well. It’s him.”
Ororo leaned closer.
“Okay. And what does this have to do with me?”
Jean had a mischievous glint in her eyes, crossing the room and sitting next to her.
“Because you’ll be the one to tour him around the mansion!"
Ororo’s eyes widened in surprise.
“Not that I’m trying to object, but you’d be familiar to this Logan guy. Why don’t you do it?”
Jean huffed.
“You’re the understanding one, Ororo! The one who sees the best in others and can help them be put at ease with your motherly aura and well… Logan definitely needs to feel at home.”
Ororo sighed.
Jean had a good point.
The weather mutant then spoke.
"Alright, I shall do it. Where is he?”
“In the common room.”
Ororo then stood up, Jean doing the same thing.
As Ororo was about to leave the room, Jean called out to her.
“And Ororo?”
Ororo turned to face her.
"Yes, Jean?”
“Thank you! You got this.”
Ororo chuckled and shook her head.
"Aw, you make me blush…and by the way, don’t misjudge your motherly aura as well.” She joked with a wink before fully leaving the room and going downstairs.
—
Ororo approached the common room, and there she saw him and paused.
Logan was casually sitting on the couch, suitcase next to him, mindlessly sharpening his claws on a sharpening stone. A couple of kids eyeballed him curiously but looked too intimidated to speak to him.
His dark hair and hazel eyes with a powerful body, along with his rugged yet undeniably handsome face,
Handsome.
Ororo shook herself off.
“Uhm. Logan?” She softly called out.
Logan turned to look at her, his eyes narrowed.
“Depends. Who’s askin’? And how do you know my name?”
“Long story short, my friend is a telepath, so she told me.”
Logan shrugged.
“Makes sense, I guess. Yes, I’m Logan. Wolverine. Whatever. Who are you?”
“I’m Ororo Munroe. Otherwise known as Storm. You’re the new member Professor X was talking about?”
Logan grunted.
"Yup, that’s me. Guessin’ that you’re the one showing me around?”
Ororo nodded.
“That would be correct. There’s quite a bit more than the common room.”
Logan stood up, making sure to stretch his bones, popping a little before grabbing his stuff.
“Then lead the way, Stormy.”
They first went into the kitchen, the late afternoon sun streaming through the window, highlighting the dust motes.
Ororo was speaking.
“By the way, since we’re here, would you like anything to eat to hold yourself over before dinner?”
Logan shook his head.
"Thanks, but nah. I can survive a couple more hours.”
They then walked down the hallway leading to the medbay.
“This is definitely the most important place to remember where to go to.” Ororo said, allowing the door to slide open.
They stepped in the fluorescent lights illuminating the room with the singular bio bed in the middle.
And there was Hank organizing his medical supplies.
He turned at hearing the door open.
“Ah, Ororo, good afternoon!”
His eyes then landed on Logan.
“Who’s this fellow?”
Ororo smiled.
"Hank, this is Logan. I’m showing him around. He’s a new member. And Logan, this is Hank McCoy. The doctor here.”
Logan nodded his head in greeting.
“Hello.” He greeted casually.
Then the Danger Room
Ororo explained.
“This may look like a normal training room, but it’s called the 'Danger Room' for a reason. You can use simulations at different levels to enhance your mutant abilities and improve yourself physically. You can even imagine whichever scenery you want!”
Logan had genuine curiosity in his eyes, as if it resonated with him.
“So. Like. I can imagine mountains or forests."
Ororo beamed.
“Exactly!”
Logan actually cracked a smile.
“Sounds like fun.”
The duo finally made it back upstairs, showcasing all the rooms until they arrived at an empty room with the bed against the west side next to a nightstand, a closet across from the bed, and a bathroom across from the closet.
Ororo crossed her arms not in guarding but in relaxation as she stood in the doorway, observing as Logan looked around the room.
She finally spoke.
“And this is where you will stay.”
