Work Text:

It was a simple day in high school, and all the kids were sometimes in class. Some were smoking in the halls, while some slept in class. It was all a normal day in the high school, far, far away from the main city. The population was so small that it wouldn't be considered its own place.

The people were so surrounded that everyone knew everyone else's business. One goes to another and then another till the whole town knows. It wasn't a space to keep secrets after all. During school time, they've had a very busy year with the theater performance being so professional that they even built their own theater away from the main school. So many people thought that this small high school had a great theater, but that was because they had a president who was definitely interested and involved in theater. He was so recognizable that even younger people who weren't even in high school had heard of him. He had a ton of positive traits, but one of them was his white hair. The white hair that grew out a ton and was by his shoulders. His head has prominent pink streaks. Simple black glasses and wore his school uniform proudly. His name was Kaelix, Kaelix Debonair. Many of the people in his neighborhood adored for how kind he was. He could help with a few things, but with a ton of responsibilities and taking college-level classes already. His schedule was packed. Sometimes he'd be seen staring out in classes, some admire as the president of his school's council, he'd be juggling work and stuff.

He's also from a large family! Like a super large one (in his area at least), standing with 4 younger siblings is no joke. Kaelix would usually help them study alongside himself. It would be helpful to them, and they'd also get to bond with their super cool older brother. Many people looked up to Kaelix when he was announced as president. The former one told Kaelix You'll do great'. He was never prepared for what he was going through. The multiple workloads range from complaints to even larger matters like the billing for the clubs and other after-school activities. Kaelix always had a keen mind to record the information spoken to him. Even if he had a ton, he made sure never to half-ass it. Most of his time is either spent in school or at home studying.

But beyond that wall of his was a very popular thing he knew about and admired.

Magical girls, magical girls (also boys!) were well known from hit manga like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor, and other very popular ones. They were so cool! The fighting, the costumes, and everything! Some were so popular that they've been made into so many items, like toys, cosmetics, etc.

The monsters were so disturbing... the goo that they always left behind shimmered like glitter, and many people were confused by it. Magical girls' bodies were very different from those of normal humans. Many people have seen them fly into buildings (and they would be rebuilt the next morning), along with the craziest effects like a blooming flower, to a whole garden of whales appearing suddenly. But one of their more disturbing things is their blood. Such bright liquids would replace the usual dark red liquid. . . it looked like children's glitter glue. The company that's behind magical girls has gone and stated in many of their public appearances, "Our magical girls are here for your safety, entertainment, and other things. We promise you that our girls will be the light of your lives."

Kaelix observed them from a distance and even got to see a certain one up close, and even befriend her in a way. Her duel-colored eyes and dragon-like abilities made her known as 'Solar Dragon'. He always admired her wings, even if they didn't look to be 'normal', it brought her charm along with her purple-ish claws. Staring at her when she kept pummeling the creature.

Her familiar was a tiny dragon and spat out beautiful flames behind her. The creature shrieking so loudly that the woman seemed to hesitate. The other wondered why.

"Come on, everybody, back to your seats so we can continue the lesson."

The teacher tiredly expressed as half of the class sat back down, but mostly near the window. The teacher couldn't give a flying fuck but started to speak once more. . .

Time flew by as the class bells rang out and the students slowly flooded the hallways again. Kaelix was packing up his items as usual. Carrying a backpack and heading out, he heard a ton of shouting from the hallways. He came out and saw one of the main people who'd cause this mess.

His semi-long, darker hair has dark green streaks. His hand was full of another student's vest.

"Wanna say that shit again, huh?" The poor kid was trying to wrestle against a locker with his face bloodied a bit.

"I- I wasn't even talking about you ass-" "Well, you were about to so shut it."

That guy was named Zeal, he was the residential punk of the school. He got held back for unknown reasons, some say drugs, skipping class. Yes he was known for that. But the real reason would stay unknown. That kid didn't know the reason. Plus, as the president, he couldn't let bullying in this school. He dropped all his stuff and raised his voice to that tone of authority that only a teacher used. The group was surrounding the sudden fight out of nowhere.

"Drop that kid now."

Zeal's face turned over and gave the other a lazy smile.

"Or what? You'll send me back to detention again. You know I'll just-"

Kaelix didn't want to hear it. Grabbing the man's arm and trying to twist it. He wasn't weak; he had some muscle, even if it was lean. Zeal felt a vein wanting to pop out. But he didn't have more important things to do.

"Prep." "Punk."

The poor kid was dropped, and the guy disappeared. He absolutely hated that guy's guts. Teachers came out and told the kids to go to class. The kids' friends came over, thanking the president for defending their friend. He told them to take him to the nurse's office.

Zeal truly did ruffle his feathers. But he couldn't worry about that guy since he was preparing the school for the largely appointed theater performance. The school was known for winning some local awards. Formally being a lead role and had respect for his fellow members. Going to the main room for the council about to enter, he heard voices inside.

"Did you see President Debonair? I heard he tried to help a student."

It was a girl's voice, a newer member of the council. He was curious, so he stayed behind and listened to the gossip like his mama told him to.

"Oh my god, he was so cute! But... heard a few things from others." 'What?' He was shocked that people whispered about him. Maybe it wasn't bad, but he listened on.

"What, what girl?" "That he's doing it for another reason.." the other gasped but was curious.

"Come on, what? He's so sweet and even all the teachers love him!" "That's why, girl, I've heard that he's been going to the principal after school. People saw that his face was sweaty."

He was gonna be sick. He's been arguing with the principal that day. It was a disagreement over a supplier for lunch since students were getting sick.

"Girl no... you're gross." "Shut it. I've also heard a rumor that he was hooking up with the super senior."

No way they were talking about him and Zeal? The boy was so confused by that rumor.

"Girl you better tell me more about those two. Shush shush, he could be coming soon." The girls kept gossiping beyond the wall, oblivious of the man behind the wall.

Kaelix had had enough and walked right in front of the door and opened it. His smile didn't pass his eyes, and he stared at the two council members.

"Hello, you two, I could use some help with these complaints and student records."

The girls froze at the sight of him. Immediately rising to their feet to follow the man. They all sat down and started to work. Kaelix saw those glances at one another, but gave those ladies a soft-eyed look. They totally forgot about the sudden gossip. After about an hour, he dismissed them since it was about lunchtime. The students admired how the boy stayed behind to finish anything. Hearing the students descend through the hallways. He picked up some of the papers that were all stacked up. Kaelix's stomach was growling, but some of those papers were due soon. Grumbling and grabbing the water bottle and drank from it. Going back to those papers. Outside the door stood the delinquent with a bag meal in his hands.

Kaelix stood confused before the man sat down. He brought out some food, chicken nuggets, and fries. Pulling out a bottle of juice.

"Want some?"

"What..."

Zeal didn't say anything else, just started to munch. Kaelix was absolutely confused at the delinquent's behavior. He was frozen. This asshole who sent a kid with a bloody nose was now eating? Offering him food..

But then he walked behind him, opening the window. Swatting something away, he heard the sound of the object being hit away and turned back. Zeal walked towards the chair and lazily sat down once more.

"What's with this change, huh? Do you expect me to bail you out of detention?"

Kaelix did grab one of the nuggets and stared at it suspiciously.

"It's not poison. Look up the brand unless you're allergic to gluten-free foods."

Kaelix ate in simple silence. Not uncomfortable but peaceful as the president finished documents. Zeal idly lay backward, staring at the bruised hand with a bit of blood. It wasn't much, but the thing in the window was a pesk. But it was green... green, and it was shiny. Kaelix noticed the blood and tilted his head, confused.

"Uh, your-"

"It's from the thing I hit. Apparently had some green goop inside."

He said it so quickly. The president wanted to question it, but did not know enough about him. Getting up from his chair and went towards his bag and pulled out a small container.

Zeal smiled at the sight of those cute bandages. He knew the president had a cute side. Most people saw him as a hard worker. He was a softie, truly, putting his injured hand out, which the goo trickled down a bit, but he wiped it off, staining his clothes.

Kaelix Brow furrowed at the other scars on his hands besides the bleeding one, "You really need to take care of yourself more, stop picking fights."

They sat in silence as he applied those adorable bandages. The delinquent lifted his hand to admire the tiny bandages over his hands. Gave a little smile at them. Kaelix quickly put them away and stared at the watch on his wrist. Grouping the papers in a neat pile.

"Where are you going, President?" Zeal questioned while stuffing his face with semi-cold nuggets.

Kaelix gave no response and packed all his items, then left. No response from the younger man. He walked down the semi-popular halls with kids eating against the wall. Going down the stairwell to open a back door, then walk out.

The school's garden was something to admire, with the flowers blooming slowly. But the prized possession of the school. The theater, the incredible place where it had won local awards and has been in the news for the shows! Kaelix was formally apart, well, still is! Just more behind the scenes as crew. He entered the building and admired the rows of seating. Even a single higher-up row. The students have been working on the iteration of 'Shrek the Musical'. It was one of his favorites, especially Donkey's song. The cast and crew were acting out on the stage. Some were eating while others painted. Kaelix admired the sight of them working hard. But suddenly the ground shook. There was, first of all, no warning for this! The students inside all felt it and stared at each other. The shaking got worse and worse. As if the creator was coming closer to them.

"Guys.. I think we should go..."

One of the kids spoke out, and the others agreed. All grabbed the bags they brought to leave. Kaelix quickly went back outside to check if he could spot the problem. But the problem always has to come to him. The building's ceiling was immediately hit with something. Causing the screams to immediately start, and he almost lost his balance!

'Huh, what... what's going on?' his mind raced as he saw a figure going inside the now broken roof. The students were still trapped inside! He couldn't even really do anything about it. Gripping his fist in helplessness. But he could help, just needed a little assistance.

"Do you want to save them?"

A voice appeared beside him. Time seemed to have stopped. Besides him, an item appeared. A broach appeared right beside him. The star was directly in the center as it opened to reveal golden liquid flowing downwards.

"If you want to help, I can help. But you have to sign something." The talking brooch magically pulled out a paper from thin air.

“Magical girl contract valid for an hour.”

"What?"

"Yep! A magical girl contract! By viewing and signing this piece of paper. You'll be a legitimate magical girl for about an hour. You'll obtain the abilities of magical girls, but in your own way."

"My own way?"

The brooch gave a human-like sigh as its top closed down. Pushing the paper again closer to the man.

"Just sign it! It's temporary after all, plus those kids will die."

"What about-"

"They aren't coming. They're too far and dealing with other situations."

Kaelix was stunned; usually, magical girls do come. But knowing they won't, and those kids will die... he could save them.

"I... alright, I'll sign."

The item created a pen for the boy to sign. He wrote his signature on their and it disappeared instantly.

"Get ready! Magical girl transformation!"

Kaelix felt his feet leave the ground and start to float. He started to shake and move around; light glowed around him. He felt the sudden change of fabrics. Like if he had simply changed into a different outfit. The light glowed around his legs, showing off his nicely shaven legs with long thigh highs. Some soft pink heels with star charms on the heel, and then a cute bow with a star in the center. His hands were covered with short lace gloves with matching pink bows. Then star shapes charm's in the center. His body was covered with a whole new outfit. A soft pink attire with the main bow at his chest. The pants he formerly wore were replaced by a fluffy dress bottom with a dress tail that mixed both soft yellow and pink in reverse layers. On the base of the dress, 2 large bows stood on the side with stars in the center. His hair also grew! The usual short hair suddenly grew and grew. Cute ponytails with star-themed clips on the side. And he blinked, he fell onto the ground, and felt something in his hand. The brooch, the star brooch, was now in his hand.

"Wow, you do make a good-looking magical girl."

The voice spoke again, now in the form of a monkey plush. Its soulless eyes stared at the newly made magical girl. Kaelix touched his face and felt his usual pair was gone! But he rubbed his eyes... he could see straight and fine.

"I can see without-"

"Oh shut up, you can ogle later at yourself. But those kids are gonna get killed in a second. Time to act up Kae-Chan!"

"What-"

The sudden space disappeared, and the creature was inside the theater. Kaelix instantly took a step and headed towards the entrance again. He called out- wait, if they heard his regular voice, his cover was over. Plus, he could see clearly without his glasses! What a miracle!

He took a breath of air and called out in a higher feminine voice, "Hello, is anyone still in here? Please scream so I can find you."

He thanked those RPG maker games for expanding his rage. His ears picked up on someone sniffing, and he headed over towards the back row of the theater. The goopy creature was above some of the chairs. It's dropping some blue goop with shimmer. He was scared out of his mind.

'I should run.. I don't know.'

"They'll be killed in seconds."

He shook his head and thought of those kids. Those passionate moments, and well, the building was destroyed. He yelled out at the beast, needing its attention.

"Hey, you disgusting goop! Look over here!"

When the creature turned over to face Kaelix, well, now Kae-Chan. It stared into the boy's magical eyes. As if trying to connect what it is.

"What are you doing, Kae-Chan! Come on, kill it!"

The plush screamed at the boy it was about to bite its stuffing out! Kaelix also just realized. He had no weapon to fight with. He slowly backed up, but the creature jumped towards him. Its growls and claws aimed at his face. He closes his eyes bracing for the worst.

But instead, the sound of metal scraped against his hand. It was a silver-arming sword. But the center of the sword was shaped similarly to a diamond star. It was kind of what he dreamed of once. Now it was real.

"W-woah! Oh my god the sword!"

He stared at it, just for a second, before the creature got up and went back at him. He jumped up super high in the theater. Goodness, he'd have to get used to this. But now he couldn't be a coward. He was supposed to save this kid! Thinking of his favorite hero. Link, what kind of shit would he do? He'd charge at his enemy! Well, he did use a sword for a small performance of a duel. He charged at the creature with the sword in both palms, aiming at the creature's heart. Or whatever was there, it sidestepped, and he tumbled into some of the chairs.

"Ouch! That hurts you-" he immediately saw the thing's goop throw something above his face.

Sliding down and feeling a cold liquid drip. He touched his cheek and saw something that shook him. Golden instead of the red liquid.

"Come on, get up. Don't give up yet Kae-Chan."

A different voice rang out to him. He looked up and saw a man standing over him. Wearing a ruffled blouse with a dark vest to match. Hair down with green tips at the end. A cape over his shoulders, but his eyes were hidden away behind a mask.

"W what are-"

"Shut up." The masked person jumped over Kaelic and sucker punched the creature.

He was stunned that a person just punched it. But it got back up immediately and tried to hit the other person. He backed up while the magical girl came in with his sword. Using immense force and cutting off its arm. The screams came from it and rang in the theater.

"Keep going. Aim for the heart."

The mystery man guided the magical girl's arms over which he saw a dark emerald ring on his finger. He gulped nervously and adhered to his words. The sword twisted and landed in its heart. The loudest screams came from it. Kaelix dropped the weapon's grip and covered his ears. It was so loud, so painful. What a terrible end for it. Slowly, the goop fell from the collapsed figure. Its dark blue goop with shimmers slowly fell down. Those soulless eyes closed permanently. With a small 'crack' sound at the end.

Kaelix was stunned; he stared at his hands, which had a bit of golden liquid on them. But he shook his head and called out for anyone in the building still. Those people needed to come first.

"It's safe now, you guys can come out now."

The masked figure lurked away behind one of the multiple doors of the place. Watching as the terrified kids slowly stepped out and stared at the ruined building. But all of their eyes were on the beautiful girl in front of them.

"A-are you a magical girl?"

One asked, the boy was staring down at his attire, and gave a small nod. "Yes, I am a magical girl," a simple response, but a smile was on his face.

"Thank you for saving us! I thought I was gonna die."

That word gave the magical girl-well boy a bit of hope. A small relief that they were safe.

"Alright, now let's get you out before the building collapses."

All nodded and followed along with the tall girl. They all admired silently, with some taking photos. His face was pink from the embarrassment he couldn't live down from this. Parents rushed towards the tiny group and checked on the children. Kaelix went back towards the broken building once more.

"Don't become a magical girl."

The masked figure pulled the boy aside and put his hands on the ridged shoulders of the other. It was a tense atmosphere already. The man made it more suspenseful.

"Oh wow! Didn't think you'd get out with barely any injury."

The plush creature suddenly appeared between them. It had been a while, time has gone fast, but not fast enough. Kaelix stared into the eye-covered man.

"I- what was that thing!"

He asked back in his regular voice, breaking the not-so-nervous smile.

"That is one of the creatures that you'll face. We call them 'inhuman delusions', things that people create within their minds."

The masked man took the younger boy, even if shorter, and put him behind himself.

"He's not going to become one of your tools."

The creature just stared at the figure who was talking for a second.

"Well, that's up to him. We have a nice long benefit list too, I'd give him time." The tone from the creature sounded so sure. So confident in the young man that he'd choose the right option.

"Come by the magical girl building, we'll set up a meeting for you. Kae-chan! We'd love to have you join us and become a magical girl."

In a flash, the items that were on Kaelix started to vanish. His hair grew shorter, and so did the outfit. Twisting back into the regular uniform he wore. Glasses back (he didn't mind but loved that he could see without them). Finally back to normal.

"Alright! That's the test run of you, Kae-chan! Come by the building or text us," the creature stated now at the masked man who seemed to be glaring at the plush.

"And you, don't try to get in our way again. Alright."

The plush waved its paw and suddenly disappeared. But left a cute card with the company and location. Kaelix grabbed it quickly and stuffed it into his pocket.

"I- I think I need to go lie down."

He felt like this was a whole dream. This fight, the outfit it was a dream for him.

"Don't go, if you want to live a normal life. Don't even think of it."

His fist was covered with the goop, and wiping it onto his coat. The dark liquid stains his attire and then disappears into the wall. Kaelix just looked around at the ruined building.

'There goes our building for a while. I think I'll go home early.. becoming a magical girl. Maybe it won't be a bad idea…’
