“Go away”
Sanji had a problem.
And that problem had everything to do with the fifteen degrees below zero outside, so he knocked on the door again.
“Zoro, it’s freezing out here, let me in!” His teeth were chattering.
After a moment of silence, Zoro answered from inside.
“I don’t care.”
“Are you so cold hearted you don’t feel the cold anymore?”
No answer this time. Okay, maybe he wasn’t exactly in a position to joke right now.
Sanji tried again, softening his voice, hoping it would work…
“Baby—”
“Don’t call me that,” Zoro cut him off with a sharp voice.
“Can we talk? At least?”
“No matter how much you keep on begging, I’m not letting you in.”
“Zoro! Please! At least tell me what I did!”
“You know exactly what you did.”
No, he didn’t.
But Sanji just leaned against the door, trying to ignore how much his fingertips were starting to hurt.
“Fine. You win. I was wrong.”
Zoro didn’t answer again.
“I hurt your feelings, but now I’ve learned my lesson,” his voice came out almost robotic, he didn’t really know what to say, “and I’ll stop acting like—”
“Do you even know what you’re apologizing for, damn it?!” Zoro sounded genuinely irritated.
“Marimo, can we talk about this inside? What do you think?”
“You’re so stupid.”
Alright. Sanji was going to have to use his strongest weapon.
“I can be stupid,” he said, leaning close to the door—maybe Zoro was on the other side, just as close, maybe they were right there, almost touching. “But are you a door?”
Zoro didn’t respond.
“Because you’re a-door-able.” He smiled his most lovestruck smile, even if Zoro couldn’t see it through the door.
“Go away.”
“Zorooo…” He lightly bumped his head against the door.
“If you’re so cold, why don’t you go warm up in your girlfriend’s lap?”
That left Sanji genuinely confused.
“…are you, by any chance… talking about yourself?”
“Of course not! you idiot!” The response was immediate. “I’m talking about that woman you wouldn’t leave alone back in town.”
Ah. That woman.
“What about her?”
“Don’t play dumb! You were all over her! You think I didn’t see where you were putting your hands?”
“Okay, but what about it?”
Zoro went silent for a few seconds. “What about it?! God, you’re hopeless!”
“Love, just tell me what’s going on!”
“Don’t call me that.”
Sanji slid down until he was sitting with his back against the door and lit a cigarette, hoping it might help with the cold.
“Are you… jealous?”
Zoro didn’t answer.
“Sorry. I thought you didn’t care about that kind of stuff.”
“I think anyone in a relationship would care.”
“It’s just… never mind, I don’t know how to explain it.”
They both fell into silence. Zoro had also sat down against the door, but neither of them knew just how close they were.
“What does she have that I don’t have?”
“You’re not seriously asking me that—”
“Answer me.”
Sanji paused to think.
“A cute personality, long soft hair, a sweet voice, a delicate body, and an ass the size of—”
“Alright, I get it.”
“…But do you know what she doesn’t have that you do?”
Zoro didn’t respond.
“I don’t either,” Sanji admitted quietly, “but you have this thing that drives me crazy. I really can’t explain it, but it’s like… an aura that makes me fall in love with everything about you.”
Zoro let out a deep breath, and then there was a click—he had unlocked the door.
Sanji was already getting up. “To be honest, I think her chest was about the same size as your—”
…and the door locked again.
Sanji sighed and sat back down.
He lit another cigarette and took a long drag. It didn’t help at all with the cold, but he had to try.
“If it makes you fell better, I promise I’ll never hit on another woman again.”
He waited for Zoro to respond, but it never came.
“I’m kind of new to this, you know? I thought since we didn’t really get together right away, it wouldn’t be a problem if I flirted with someone else. Mostily because i cant feel like… romantic, with anyone that isnt you so its basicly just me used to trow myself at pretty ladys
He rested his head against his knees and sighed, the cold air stinging in his lungs.
“And I think you’re so… amazing… that even knowing it’s probably not going to happen, I still feel like you’re going to leave me at any moment.”
Sanji took a deep breath “Honestly… im kinda happy with it… i didn’t thougt you liked me that much to be jealous” a long drag in his cigaret this time “and that means you never going to dump me”
Zoro stayed silent for so long that Sanji was already getting up to find somewhere else to spend the night.
But then he heard the door open behind him—and there was Zoro, scowling at him.
“My love!!!” Sanji threw himself at him. Zoro stayed completely still.
“I told you not to call me that.”
“I don’t care,” Sanji said happily, burying his face in Zoro’s neck.
“I’m still mad.”
“Can you lie under a warm blanket with me now and warm me up?”
Zoro swallowed a laugh, trying to keep his composure.
“You need a hot shower, that’s what.”
“Are you coming with me?” Well, he had to try.
“In your dreams.”
“is your fault for locking me out.”
“You started it—and if you keep pushing, I’ll lock you out again.”
Sanji laughed and kissed him slowly, hands resting against his neck to warm them up.
Zoro pulled him closer, holding him tight. “I’m still mad.”
“Yeah, sure.”
And this time, Zoro kissed him.
“Just so we’re clear,” he murmured, “you’d have to do something really awful for me to leave you.”
“I know, I know.”
“Come on,” Zoro said, pulling him inside. “You really need that shower before you get sick.”
Sanji’s heart was already so warm that getting sick didn’t seem like a problem anymore.
