Chapter Text
“Mags, you’re finally back!” Catarina hollered.
“Alec here thought he scared you off.” She said while side-eyeing Alec. Alec ducked his head sheepishly looking apologetically at Magnus.
Magnus made a small smile, shaking his head, “Stop bullying him.”
Catarina gasped dramatically, looking convincingly offended, “I would never! How can you accuse me of such a thing?”
Magnus rolled his eyes at her before shyly looking back at Alec. “Hey Alexander.”
Alec quirked a slight smile, eyes full of adoration, “Hey Magnus.” He paused, looking down at his feet before looking up again. “Hey, erm can I give you a ride later when you are done?”
Magnus eyes widened, he blinked a couple of times and blushed, though not obvious with those makeup on. He nodded a few times, “Yeah, yeah…sure.” Flashing Alec a smile in the eyes.
Alec let out a little laugh and nodded as well, beaming as he rubbed his cheek, “Great. So, I- I’ll see you later?”
“Sure.” Magnus answered, biting his cheek to not laugh. To see Alec stuttering was not a common scene, afterall he was always so suave like he’s born to flirt.
Alec chuckled, “Okay.”
If anyone were to pass by them now, they would think that these two were in their honeymoon phase since they were behaving disgustingly cute.
Ragnor groaned. “God. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?”
Catarina took a gulp from her drink and slammed it down, the remaining liquid sloshed out from the impact. “Yes! Get a room you people!” and wolf-whistled after. She gestured to the bartender for a new drink.
Ragnor blew a breath and fingers massaging his temple in a pained expression, muttering under his breath. “That’s not what I meant.”
“What then?” Catarina raised a brow.
Ragnor quirked a brow back, “This spells trouble.” He pointed to the two people who were still smiling at each other like virgins on the first date.
“Don’t be like that Rags,” Catarina nudged him but gave him a forlorn smile, “Magnus needs it. He needs him. I can see it.”
Ragnor sighed, feeling defeated and nodded. “Guess we shall see how it goes then.”
Catarina stirred her drink in hand, looking at them thoughtfully. “…Yeah.”

Alec watched as Magnus got off the stage and he rushed over to meet him halfway at the backstage. When Magnus saw him, he beamed brightly, teeth and all and you cannot deny that that was the best thing for Alec to see as the smile forms.
“Hey, again.” Alec said breathlessly as he came to a stop in front of Magnus.
“Hey Alexander.” Magnus replied, panting slightly from the earlier exertion. Alec was looking at Magnus with such open adoration again that Magnus forgot to breathe all over. Sometimes he wondered for a second what was Alec thinking to have that look on his face. “I er le-let me go grab my stuff and we can go.” He said as he hooked a thumb over his shoulder.
“I’ll be here then.” Alec grinned, running a hand through his dark strands. Magnus smiled, a small yet private one like it was meant for him and only him to see. He still couldn’t get over how stunning Magnus looked with just a change of an outfit and the makeup on. He was already beautiful before, now he’s just downright gorgeous, ethereal even. How can a man like Magnus Bane exist in this realm? Unbelievable. He’s pretty even when he was sweaty, nobody looks that pretty when you have sweat dripping everywhere. But apparently that doesn’t apply to his babe.
“Right.” With one last smile, Magnus disappeared through the backstage door leading to the dressing room. Alec stared at the door longingly before catching himself in a dopey smile that had creeped out unknowingly during the short conversation. Not wanting people to look weirdly at him, he shoved his hands into his pockets and bit his lips in an attempt to look nonchalant while keeping his sappy smile at bay.
When Magnus reached the dressing room, Raphael and Simon were in there from what he could see through the gap of the door and the frame. He stopped short by the door frame, not sure whether to knock or walk right into some scenes that he hoped he would not see his two best friends committing, something that he would need bleach to cleanse out of his brain.
“You can come in Magnus. We’re not doing anything.” Raphael said in a flat voice and how the hell did Raphael know it was him at the door, while Simon chimed out, giggling. “We’re not not doin’ anything, we are cuddling Raphy!” Magnus' eyes nearly bulged out of his sockets. Raphy?? Cuddling?!! Now this he got to see!
Magnus pushed the door open cautiously, just in case and took in the scene unfolding in front of him.
Oh. My God.
Wow.
They really were cuddling. Should he be surprised? Yes. Because can you imagine Raphael being sweet and cuddly? Neither can Magnus. He blinked his eyes rapidly just to take it all in. Both Simon and Raphael were sprawled across the couch with Simon lying on top, nosing along the line of Raphael’s jaw with a sickeningly worshipping grin, looking obviously drunk and debauched. Raphael on the other hand, sat like there wasn’t a person clinging on to him like a limpet, looking bored and sipping on his Bloody Mary. However there was a glint in his eyes that Magnus had not seen before, amused yet possessive. Yes! Magnus’ match making plan had succeeded wondrously! Soon enough there will be wedding bells and little Raphael or Simon running around and he’s going to the world’s most amazing uncle that has ever existed.
Best plan ever.
Raphael caught Magnus’ eyes with a clear warning sent. Magnus cocked an eyebrow and snorted. “Just getting my stuff.” He said as he gathered his things. “Bye! Have lots of fun!” Magnus smiled a shit-eating grin innocently as he headed towards the door.
“Bye bye Magsnus!” Simon popped his head out of Raphael’s neck, slurring while waving clumsily and accidentally smacking Raphael in the head. Typical of Simon. “Oh! Sor-sorry Raphyy.” And he placed a few sloppy kisses onto Raphael’s temple. Best yet, Raphael did not look any bit like he minded at all, instead he returned a little nip to Simon’s jaw, causing him to moan. Well as for Magnus, he’s out of there.
With his mind full of how Raphael was being so sweet on Simon, that glaring cold-blooded creature being loving to Simon of all people was just too inconceivable! Mind-blogging even! He didn’t think his plan would work that smoothly. With that thought, he made his way back to Alec.
He was leaning with an elbow on the bar top, crossing his long-ass sexy legs with a drink in hand. Izzy, who was laughing over something that Clary had told her, caught his eyes and she nudged Alec with her elbow while jerking her chin in Magnus’ direction. Alec glanced over and his smile was always a sight to behold.
Alec tipped his head towards the exit, “Shall we?” Magnus couldn't help but smile shyly. Before he could answer Alec, loud whooping and cheering from their friends, especially from Izzy and Catarina, interrupted them.
Alec groaned and glared at them, eyebrows furrowing ever adorably over his deep-set twinkling eyes. Jesus. Magnus should just quit his job and spend the rest of his life as a poet just writing about Alec’s everything. Just as his mind started to wander, a hand took hold of his and gently pulled him along the way. All Magnus could think of was the heat of the hand in his, slowly filling his chest with a familiar warmth that he once felt before.
A long time ago.
Catarina cupped her mouth with a hand and hollered, just as Izzy was doing the same thing as her.
“Remember to use condoms!”
“Condoms are in the dash Alec!”
Catarina and Izzy turned and stared at each other with wide eyes, already with similarly mischievous grins forming on their lips. “I got a feeling that we’re going to be best friends.”
Izzy smirked and winked. “Aren’t we already?”
Magnus flushed a bright red and Alec rolled his eyes at their remarks, both of them steadily distancing themselves away from that raucous group as they weaved through the throng of drunk clubbers.
Once out of the pulsating club, Alec heaved a sigh of relief and turned to look at Magnus. Magnus had his eyes downcast, ears tinted a slight red. Alec roved his gaze down and realised he’s still merrily grasping Magnus’ hand. Without Magnus’ permission. Oh god, it had felt so natural to do it that he didn’t even notice. Alec just naturally gravitates to where Magnus was, no matter where. He wondered if it was painfully obvious to the others that he’s obsessed with his babe. He should let go of Magnus’ hand now if he didn’t want to cause any discomfort.
“Sorry I sh—” Alec said as he started to release his grip, though feeling rather reluctant, Magnus’ fingers tightened around his hand.
“No!”
Alec gaped at the flabbergasted Magnus who was currently imitating a goldfish, unable to get words out of his mouth while looking thoroughly mortified. “I-I mean I-well—”
“Well, I’m not letting you go now.” Alec smirked as he interlocked his fingers with Magnus’, and raised Magnus’ hand up to kiss the back of it. Alec smirked to himself, feeling giddy, when he saw Magnus smiling with pink staining his cheeks so beautifully. Or that was just the blusher.
With heart beating a hundred miles per hour while doing a little dance, he led Magnus along to his car. He didn’t even stop the return of that sappy smile of his stretching over his face. He was just so in love. Is it too soon to think that? To think that Magnus too, not wanting to let him go just yet was turning him putty.
Magnus on the other hand, was appalled at himself yet feeling so pleased and bashful. That impulsive act of his actually made the situation better. He had expected the worst but with Alec's behaviour around him, he doubted that Alec would be like one of those people who would be disgusted by his action. Magnus didn’t want to come across as clingy or needy, no. He had done enough of that. But… to who? And for what reason?
Magnus left that thought alone as it wasn’t important right now. Not trusting his voice, Magnus simply nodded whilst casting occasional peeks at Alec as they made their way to the car. After they had got into the car with seatbelts on and ready to go, Alec held out his hand towards Magnus as an invitation. Magnus gazed at the hand before moving his eyes up to meet Alec’s. Smiling, he grasped Alec’s hand. Alec bit his cheek in vain to stop his smile from spreading too wide.
Alec pulled to a stop right in front of Magnus’ apartment complex, sighing to himself. “So this is it.” Turning to face Magnus. Magnus gave a subtle smile, nodding rather diffidently. “Yeah, see you Alexander.” He opened the car’s door and got out, letting out a sigh. Unexpectedly, as he shut the door, Alec followed suit and got out as well.
Magnus stared at Alec in confusion, “What are you doing?” Does he want a goodnight kiss? Magnus hoped he does, the anticipation rising the longer Alec took to answer his question. However, despite the anticipation, he hoped that Alec just wanted a kiss and nothing more.
“Walking you up to your door.” Magnus' heart sank to the ground. He was not ready yet.
“Why?” he whispered, heart thumping in dread.
Alec, who was still in his cloud nine, did not notice Magnus’ change of tone. “Because I’m a gentleman.”
Magnus managed to snort to Alec’s reply but the uneasiness was still welling up inside him. Finally, Alec did notice. Magnus had gone still, eyes averted in avoidance of contact. Alec leant down as he tried to catch Magnus’ eyes. “Hey…what’s wrong?” He started to worry, did he say something wrong? “Magnus?”
Magnus swallowed, tension running along his shoulders, seemingly hesitant. “You know…that I’m still not ready to…” he glanced up at Alec, hoping he would get what he meant without him saying out loud.
Alec tilted his head slightly, trying to make sense of what Magnus was implying. Sure enough, the idea snapped in place.
“Oh No nonono, Magnus no.” Alec sighed, cursing himself for not thinking his action would mean to Magnus as he rubbed his forehead, feeling guilty for letting Magnus think that way. He messed up again. “I didn’t have what you thought in mind at all, I just wanted to see you for a bit longer that’s all.”
Magnus bowed his head in embarrassment yet again, wincing to himself. “Sorry for misunderstanding your intention, I overthink and thought that you…”
Alec moved forward and cupped Magnus’ cheek, shaking his head. “Hey, you have nothing to be sorry for Magnus. I should have stated myself clearly and I should be the one saying sorry, not you.” Alec said softly, stroking across Magnus’ cheek with the pad of his thumb, accidentally brushing off some glitter which fell like sparks. Under the streetlight, Magnus looked so enchanting and Alec couldn't help but be bewitched by his beauty.
Magnus nodded, face burning up at the touch of Alec’s hand. He felt so cared for and…loved. The warmth in him bubbled up, replacing that dreadful anxiousness, filling him to the brim. He wished he could feel like this forever. And maybe, just maybe, he could, with Alec by his side. The nod he gave was like magic, lighting up Alec’s face, bestowing Magnus with the sweetest smile he had ever seen apart from anyone else. Alec had the best smile in the world. He felt selfish but he wanted to be the only one who witnessed this smile and nobody else.
Alec pulled his hands back and Magnus could still feel the lingering heat on his cheeks. That or he was just blushing like no tomorrow. “I’ll see you to your door?”
Magnus grinned, “Yes, please.” Alec held out his hand once more, raising both brows knowingly. Magnus chuckled, nodding demurely, accepting Alec’s hand and they made their way up the steps.
When they reached Magnus’ door, Alec held both of Magnus' hands, gently swinging them a little. “Goodnight?”
Magnus, feeling a little brave and teasing, cocked his head to one side, “I guess?” He made a thoughtful look. Pulling back his hands, Magnus faced the door and searched his pockets while trying hard not to crack out a laugh. “I need to get my keys.” He said dismissively.
Seeing from the peripheral vision of his eyes, Magnus saw Alec’s face fall into a disappointed pout as he rubbed his nape awkwardly. When he finally got his keys, he opened the lock and tried his very best to maintain a straight face because he was about to burst out laughing from Alec’s expression. Alec just looked so sad and disappointed like a little child being denied his favourite toy. Even cuter, a puppy whose attention had been neglected.
Magnus pushed the door open quietly and stepped inside before looking up at Alec, who instantly straightened up, trying to compose himself. With his own heart beating furiously as he's about to attempt something bold, Magnus gestured for Alec to come closer.
Curious, Alec closed the last meager inches and all was a blur when Magnus clasped the back of his neck and pulled him down. Magnus met him halfway, swallowing the surprised gasp that Alec made.
Alec’s mind went blank the moment their lips touched, like an electric shock running through his body. All he could focus on was the warm brush of Magnus’ lips against his, so soft yet firm. Alec got into the program and he tilted his head to slot their lips better, moving. He wrapped his arms around Magnus’ waist, pulling him closer against his chest. Magnus went easily, pliant in Alec’s embrace as he encircle his arms around his shoulders, sighing softly into the kiss.
Alec brushed his tongue along the seam of Magnus’ parted lips, silently asking and Magnus widened his mouth further. As their tongues touched, Alec groaned out loud from the sensation and Magnus’ soft whimper that he had nearly missed. Their tongues swiped over each other like in a slow dance, relishing their taste together. The time passing by was lost to the two.
Magnus gripped Alec’s hair, feeling himself floating away into the overwhelming heat and lust. A faint mew broke through the haze in his mind and he caught himself. Magnus parted away slowly, hand grasping onto Alec’s shoulder as he watched Alec chase his lips. Alec opened his eyes which he had unknowingly closed and they gazed, fondly into each other’s eyes.
Brown against hazel.
“What did I do?” Magnus whispered, panting slightly. Alec was no better.
Alec let out a breathless laugh, feeling so enthralled and astonished by Magnus. He was still buzzing from the kiss and his heart was racing. “You never failed to amaze me, Magnus.” Magnus stared at him with awe visible in his eyes and chuckled at his words, pink blush once again making its appearance from Magnus' ears down to his neck.
Before Magnus could say anything, a meow sounded out much louder than before. Both Magnus and Alec looked down at their feet to see a disgruntled looking Chairman Meow from being ignored. Both of them looked back at each other, lips pressing flat in amusement.
"Alexander, meet Chairman Meow. Chairman Meow, meet Alexander."
