Bucky tries to bore a hole into the popcorn ceiling as the sound of the luxury SUV engine dwindles in the distance. He lets out a groan when he finally tears his gaze away. The choker on his neck gleams in the moonlight, his wedding band with its blue accent roses dangling below.
Nothing makes him feel safer or more at home than being swaddled in the comforting arms of his husband of three years and dom of five. But if he strains his ears just enough, he can hear that deep voice clear as a bell.
“Look at me, Kitten,” Steve had said yesterday when Bucky wouldn’t stop moping around. “It’s an ordinary business trip so I promise you we’ll have some fun. It doesn’t have to be complicated, just a little something to hold you off ‘till I get back.”
