Summary
"Love and death are the great hinges on which all human sympathies turn. What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others lives beyond us."
Will confesses everything when he calls to warn Hannibal, Hannibal's resolve wavers enough for him to make a fateful choice, and Abigail is once again caught up in the storm.
Almost nothing goes as planned — and yet, just like one of Hannibal's teacups, everything comes back together in the end.
* * *
An alternate course of events for "Mizumono," as narrated by Abigail Hobbs.

Will trades a fishhook for the way home.
Since then, the fish throw themselves at his line while the rest of the village starves—and the antlered thing in the forest has developed a fondness for his company.
Which is, frankly, the kind of luck Will could have done without.

Summary
“Detective Graham.”
Silence met Hannibal Lecter’s smooth, honeyed query. Had it been any other situation, he would have taken insult, but the man that stood before him was clearly not mentally in the room with them. He’d handled Hannibal’s things far more than any of the other officers, as if he intended to leave his mark in smudges of nitrile instead of fingerprints, in long, probing glances instead of blood, or sweat, or tears. Now, as Hannibal wanted answers, the detective’s gaze remained irritatingly fixed on the ground, giving Hannibal ample time to hungrily study the edges of his profile; a cut-glass jawline that was softened by the curve of plush lips, the unkempt boyish length of unruly curls that emphasized the detective’s obvious youth enough to make a mockery of his clear intelligence. Hannibal should have been vexed that someone so inexperienced had been brought into his home, but the very thought of any negative emotions fled the moment he’d laid eyes on him.OR
A man dies in Hannibal's home. The detective assigned to his case almost makes up for the inconvenience. Will Graham may choose to ignore him, but it can't last forever.
