He whips his head around and scans his surroundings, finding nothing but a massive crater surrounding him. He looks down at his hands, the one that still remains. He touches the ground he rests upon, bringing up nothing but ashes and sand that seeps through his fingers.
Dread and guilt flood his senses, hot tears pouring down his chin as his guttural screams and sobs echo throughout the pit. The rising sun already high in the crystalline sky burns into him as his world collapses around him.

Summary

All at once, Vash is ushered into a world of constant war and harsh politics, and he isn’t sure he's ready for it. Not at all.
