Summary
There was something about the Renaissance that was both incredibly overwhelming as well as painfully familiar.
In many ways, it felt like home. In other ways, it was nothing like Desmond had expected it to be.The Animus was not entirely accurate in its depiction of the time. It left some things out and changed others but it was definitely close enough for Desmond to get by. Rome was very different from how it was in Desmond’s time but the layout was mostly the same as were the larger buildings like the Colosseum and the Vatican.
It made Desmond believe everything had all been a bad dream. That he was still underneath Villa Auditore, hiding from the Templars while spending countless hours inside the Animus. Only when he got out of the Temple and got to the surface did he realise that this was not the case. This was not just Heavy Bleeding, like Desmond experienced the past few weeks, this was real. Terrified at the implications, Desmond did what he had been taught to do best.
He hid.

Summary
Every now and again—typically late at night, when his mind was trying and failing to internalise the hurricane of weird shit that happened to be his life—Desmond wondered about how all this will end. Abstrego can throw around technical-sounding jargon until the cows go home, but even they probably knew that rendering genetic memories in three dimensions just meant fucking around with soul magic.

Summary
The Isu built humans in their image—flawed, emotional, stubborn. So, perhaps it was inevitable that everything else created by their hands also picked up those same imperfections.
The Eye was no exception to that.
In which, the Eye has an existential crisis and Desmond tries to survive medieval Italy, which would have been easier to do if it weren’t for the goddamn wings.
(Aka the time travel fix it/wingfic that no one asked for)

Summary
One minute Desmond was standing in the Isu Temple flash cooking his own arm through the power of First Civ tech, and the next he's running through the streets of Jerusalem in a panic to escape pursuing Templar Knights.
In a strange twist of events, it would seem his prayers for a second chance were finally answered but in the worst possible fashion he could think of. Taken into Templar custody, he's fearful of what his fate will hold under the watchful eyes of one Robert de Sablé.
He could only hope their hospitality practices were better than Abstergo's.
--------
In the catastrophic aftermath of the battle of Masyaf, Robert de Sablé and his men are grieving their fallen comrades when a strange man in strange clothes with a grotesque burn on his arm falls into their care. Stricken with illness from the sweltering Jerusalem heat, Robert takes the injured and ill man back to their base to recover. As details about their newest charge unfold, speculation about his origins circles the ranks. However, one thing is for certain. Robert isn't going to let another life slip through his fingers if he can help it.
