Summary
“Was the psychiatrist nice? Did you two click?”
“He wasn’t…awful? A normal dude,” Eddie replies.
Buck lets out a disembodied grunt.
“Oh, I’m so sorry this isn’t more exciting for you,” he carries on, playfully rolling his eyes. “Did you want the journey to my mental wellbeing to be one of those cheesy dramas you like so much? Because I assure you, Buck, real-life therapy isn’t all that mind-blowing.”
“How do you know? You’ve never given it a proper chance,” Buck argues. “I’ll be patiently— Impatiently waiting for the day you come out of a session as a new man, desperate to tell me all about what you learned.”
“Good luck with that,” Eddie fires back.
_____
OR Eddie fixes things with Christopher, goes to a day rehab, and gets himself a hot firefighter boyfriend. Not necessarily in that order. -

Summary
At Fort Benning, Eddie Diaz was stripped of more than his hair.
Years later, a barbershop in LA — and a man named Buck — might help him put the pieces back together. This isn't just about haircuts. It's about consent, kindness, and the long road back to yourself.
—
“Hair doesn’t care where it’s cut,” Buck said. “It’s where you feel the safest.”
Eddie pressed the heels of his hands into his eyes.
I’m okay. I’m safe.
Buck is keeping me safe.Series

Summary
“You have a good partner, Eddie.”
Eddie flushes, because he knows that her partner isn’t the same as work partner. It’s an assumption they had never bothered to correct at Christopher’s school, mostly because it made it easier for people to understand why Buck was around so often, versus best friend or colleague or legal guardian in case I die.
“Yeah,” Eddie responds, his voice thicker than he expected. “He’s the best partner I could ask for.”
Or: Christopher hosts a sleepover, Buck helps, and Eddie realizes he hasn’t been a single dad in years.
