Caroline just wanted to sleep after the chaos of last night. You’d think that being kidnapped, nearly sacrificed in a bizarre ritual involving her best friend’s death, almost attacked by her werewolf friend, and, on top of it all, going through a breakup would be enough.
The universe, however, thought it would be a great idea for another werewolf to camp out in front of her house.
And that’s how Caroline met Klaus Mikaelson—naked as the day he was born, covered in dirt, and with no memory of who he was.
A retelling of season three, where Caroline crosses paths with the Mikaelsons before everyone else.

Klaus watches her, a war waging beneath the surface of his expression.
Then, slowly, achingly slow, he smiles.
It is a dangerous thing, full of sharp edges and unsaid promises, but it does not shake her."I wonder," he muses, tilting his head, his voice almost amused. "Is this truly about
protecting Hope, or is this about punishing me?"Caroline stiffens, but she does not let it show.
"I don't know what you're talking about."
She states indifferently, yet he pins her gaze to his with a tilt of her chin, his fingers skimming against her skin, in a way that sets her on fire."Yes you do." He whispers against her ear, and the sharp inhale betrays her to him.
Caroline's heart hammers beneath her ribs, the rush of blood loud in her ears as Klaus'
voice slips into her skin like poison. She stands there, unmoving, despite the spark of recognition that flickers in the depths of her chest."You're punishing me Caroline." He states, his own fingers gliding through her blonde locks. Her jaw tightens, her gaze wavering away from his own.
He steps around her, like he's stalking his prey. "You're punishing me for breaking the sanctity of our bond."
