How drunk was Carrington, to be toasting their relationship? And was Drummer Boy crying with laughter, happiness, or because he wanted a relationship with one of the pair? Anyway, this made me smile.
Haha! Carrington had a good buzz going. He's not quite the asshole he's usually painted, he just likes a job done and done well - and with the Institute gone, the job was done, so why not raise a glass in good cheer? Drummer just had something in his eye, he's absolutely not drunkenly over-emotional about two of his favorite people getting together after accomplishing something so grandiose, I don't know what you're talking about ;D (It was a little personal throwback to Drummer writing friend fiction about them in some private convos I've had).
