Summary
The Deputy was charged with finding Jacob Seed and ending his reign over the Whitetail Mountains. But Jacob is charming, in his way - not with Joseph's golden tongue or John's allure, but with strength and loyalty - and the Deputy is far from unaffected. She has her own wit, however, one Jacob never anticipated, and they have more in common than they realize. Jacob has nightmares, and you're still working on getting him to share them. Maybe he won't ever open up about them, but you won't rest until he knows that he can trust you. He doesn't have to do this alone, and you'll tell him over and over until he understands that.
