It’s Inko’s ringtone, Izuku’s high, happy voice saying ‘a phone call is here!’ On repeat. Inko rarely calls during the day, and he hadn’t had the heart to change it, so it’s the first his friends have heard it. Nemuri’s eyebrows almost disappear into her hair. Hizashi chokes on his words.
He answers the phone.
“Inko, I’m -“
“It’s Izuku,” his sister sobs, and Shouta’s spine goes rigid, blood leaving his face and making him cold.
