Summary
This is Johnny's perspective right after the final scene between Johnny and Roy in Greatest Rescues of Emergency!. They've both just been promoted to Captain and as a result will not work as paramedics or together anymore at Station 51. Then they spend what must have been hours reminiscing.

He’d tried to say it, as they’d been about to leave, as they were talking about how of course they’d stay friends. But he hadn’t been able to. Coward, of course, but also, he just hadn’t been able to find the right words for what he’d been feeling. Roy had given him that slight smile, like he already knew, and Johnny had tried to say it with the arm across Roy’s shoulders. But that wasn’t enough, and now, alone in the car, Johnny tried to find the words.
But it wasn’t words, it was a feeling, empty and too full. It was realizing that the time he’d spent working with Roy had been the most meaningful of his whole life. And it was over.Series

Summary
Roy drove up to his home, feeling in his gut that something wasn’t right. It had been so good to talk with Johnny, to remember together, but at the end there something had twisted in him. It wasn’t just what he was picking up on from Johnny, a hesitation and the sense that the smile on Johnny’s face was an attempt at a cover up.
It was a sick feeling, that he’d made a wrong turn, now without Johnny sitting beside him to make sure he got where he needed to go.
