Joel almost flinches when a glass of water falls off the nightstand, crashing onto the covers. Funny, it stood right on the spot fWhip put one before they went to sleep. But it's gone now, and he hears Two for the first time when their heels crunch on the shards. That makes him feel better, somehow. Like the nightmare is a little more human.
