Toshinori arrived in time to experience the New Father Nerves as Chiyo dubbed it. He waited outside in the hallway, pacing and muttering his worries to the bland white walls of the hospital, stewing in his anxieties and self-depreciating thoughts of not being enough for the young one. He chews on his thumbnail a little as he pauses and notices the near deafening silence of the general area.
His brow furrows. He is worried.
The fact remains that the baby wanted to come into the world early, a little too early. The little boy wasn’t expected until August, but here he is making his way out in July.

“Wonderful! I’m looking forward to it!” The creature exclaims, not giving Toshinori a moment to respond. Then the principal hangs up.
The Number One Hero stands in the living room with the phone next to his ear. He closes his eyes.

Who would be visiting this late at night?
She waits for a few moments, wondering if she heard the knock correctly or if it was part of her imagination. She hopes it’s the latter. She doesn’t feel like having anyone in the apartment right now.
The knock sounds again, more insistently this time.
