The screen on Wilbur’s laptop is glaring at him. He isn’t really sure when the brightness turned from tolerable to stinging, or when the natural light of the sun had stopped shining through his bedroom window, but neither is really what pulls him from squinting at the screen. No, that honor goes to the incessant buzzing of his phone, telling him he’s either got a call or several dozen texts sent in a row.
Wilbur considers ignoring it, turning the device to Do Not Disturb and return to where he was hating every word he typed out. In the end, it’s the loathing of his own work that gets Wilbur to sigh and unlock his phone.
