Summary
He’s not really sure how they got from innocent kissing to making out to jerking each other off to sucking each other, but whatever, he’s not complaining. It seems like physical intimacy just comes naturally to them, like the way they work perfectly in sync on court—perfect partners on and off it, and it gives Shouyou this fuzzy, gooey feeling whenever he thinks about it.
Which brings them to their current situation: finally attempting to elevate their relationship to the next level, aka the single most terrifying thing Shouyou has ever attempted to do. It’s their three-month anniversary to the day (it was Kageyama who remembered—what a sap) and they figured, it is the perfect time to do it.
Shouyou's first time with Kageyama turns out to be 90% bickering and 10% awkward sex, and they figured, they're not ready for it and puts all butt stuff on hold for now.
Seems like a solid plan, right?

When Hinata runs his tongue over his glossy, popsicle-smeared lips, Tobio mirrors his action, almost unconsciously, as if whatever trance Hinata has fallen into has infected Tobio as well, his body prickling underneath his skin, his head feeling loopy and gauzy, like he’s in a dream. Must be the brain freeze kicking in, or the beginning of a heatstroke—
But before he can mull over his exact state of being, Hinata surges forward, crashing their lips together. A muffled, surprised sound slips out of Tobio, but he does nothing to move himself or Hinata, the coldness of their mouths melting with how warm and wet and sticky Hinata’s lips feel.
Brazil's heatwaves are no joke, as Kageyama can testify, but having to deal with Hinata and his antics proves to be a much more difficult heat to handle.

Tobio feels a new wave of vigor rush through him just receiving these words, or simply having this mundane chat with his boyfriend, as if Hinata’s sunny-ness is jumping off the phone to recharge Tobio, like the way he hugs him and envelops him in his strong, bulky arms when Tobio is feeling sulky when he did bad on a test or was just drained by all the studying he’s been doing. Summary
There’s only so much they can do to keep the watchful eyes of the public. There’s no interview that doesn’t try to pry on his and Kageyama’s “close relationship;” all innocent and jesting questions at first of how Japan’s freak duo has undeniable chemistry in and out of the court, how their intense rivalry being a charm that pulls volleyball fans in, raking viewers and filling in gymnasiums whenever the Schweiden Adlers and Black Jackals are scheduled for a game, but eventually swerving to hint that their love-hate relationship might allude to something beyond that of friends and rivals, as people claim to have caught them hanging out rather frequently on their days off.
Shouyou might be oblivious to many, many things, but he’s not that stupid not to catch on.
Hinata is willing to invest in huge compromises if it means maintaining the secrecy of his relationship with Kageyama. But with his plan going a little too well, is he paying more than he bargained for?
