Summary
James Bond defies death on a regular basis. He comes back from the dead again and again. And each time something inside him dies. The darkness is growing and getting hungrier. Violence and blood and beautiful women, it is all an equation that can have one outcome. It is what makes him such a damned good agent.
M knew it. Then she died.
And Bond discovers that maybe, just maybe, she knew what she was doing when she gave him Q as his handler. This could be the solution, but it could also be the worst idea ever because the hunger and the need are growing and Q seems to be where his primal side, the predator he is, calms down.
Yes, it could be the solution. Or a catastrophy in the making that would tear them both to pieces.Series

It has been a stressful few weeks, with Bond out on back-to-back missions and assignments, a flu epidemic at MI6 that has Q working 24/7, and barely any private moments. Now that Bond finally makes it home, it's to an exhausted quartermaster on enforced leave. Not that Bond would complain. It's just that on the road to self-discovery he gets blindsided by some aspects of his darker nature when it comes to Q.

Summary
Things have gone back to normal. Bond is back in business, M-approved, after a few light missions have proven him stable. Then a call from Kincade about the Skyfall property piques his interest.
Q remains back in London, doing his job, but for him things go quickly downhill as The Machine chooses him as its safe haven as the virus forces it into a hard reset. There is nothing he can do as his shields are shattered, taking him down. He can only hope he can survive the maelstrom, that it won't destroy the connection to Bond, the phoenix.

Summary
After everything that happened, after the hard reset and the consequences for everyone involved with The Machine, Finch and Reese are more than happy to get numbers again. It's an attempt at normalcy.
Until Q tells Finch that The Machine downloaded a whole batch of files into the technopath's brain. Files on Finch. On Reese. On everything.
Q hasn't touched The Machine since it had nearly overrun him. He knows he has no viable defense against it, that it could snuff him out with one blow. But right now he has a bigger problem, with a riled-up, moody phoenix who seems to want to commit bloody murder. Q can't really wrap his head around the fact that the mere existence of one person can set Bond's teeth on edge, has him close to losing control, and Q has his hands full handling his agent before he does someting very, very stupid...

Because loneliness is a destructive force, especially for someone who can't deal with it, without a pack. Finch is more than shocked and surprised when he gets a small note addressed to 'John's handler'. He's even more shocked to discover who asked to meet him; alone.
