Summary
“Prongs?” Remus calls, stepping into the room, “Why didn’t you come to dinner?”
James sits up a bit from where he’s laying, resting on his elbows underneath him, “I just. I’m not doing good right now.” Immediately Remus’ expression softens and he walks towards James’ bed, sitting on the edge of it. James isn’t the type of person to easily admit when something is going on in his mind or when he’s not feeling perfect. So the fact that he not only missed dinner but also willingly gave up that information--Remus had to put up no fight, which is concerning in of itself.
...
James is going through some self-esteem issues, having some trouble with himself and his relationships and for once is able to open up about it to Remus.

Summary
“I wish we didn’t have to hide this.” Barty mutters randomly, breaking the silence that the three of them have had for the last half hour.
They’re currently laying on Evan’s bed, Evan laying on his back with Peter and Barty on either side of him. Evan is passively reading a book and Pete is half asleep when Barty brings it up, but they both hear him and Evan hums in acknowledgment.
But Peter sighs, “I know, I’m sorry. I wish we could be open about it too but… you know my friends and you know that they hate everything Slytherin, let alone you guys. I mean what with you being best friends with Regulus.”
...
Peter, Barty, and Evan have been in a secret relationship for a while now and Peter doesn't want to reveal their relationship out of fear of his friends' relationships with the Slytherins. He knows that they hate Slytherins but does he really? As it turns out, at a Slytherin party, James may or may not have been lying about his feelings on his boyfriends and Regulus.

Summary
“Do you know where James is, Sirius?” Regulus asks, appearing out of nowhere as he tends to do and making Sirius absolutely jump out of his seat.
Sirius furrows his brows, “Why would I know, aren’t you his boyfriend?”
...
“James! Pete! Don’t you think this dress would look fabulous on Mrs. Valerie?” The two brothers follow the sound of her voice and, when they round the corner, they see Marlene holding up a gorgeous green ball gown and James turning around from another dress rack he was looking at as Pete walks towards them, a couple suit jackets thrown over his forearm.
...
“We’re getting stuff for Christmas.” James informs him, sweeping in to press a kiss to his forehead--although Sirius is alright with their relationship, the two of them are respectful enough to never actually kiss in front of him.
“Mum said the same thing.” Sirius whines, “What do you mean?”
To which Marlene turns to her two childhood friends, “Have you never told him about the gala?”
...

Summary
“Dude,” Larry asks, leaning towards Ash as they walk towards the elevator, glancing back at the doors they just walked into, “Didn’t that guy look like Travis?”
“Phelps?” Ash clarifies, looking back as well to see a blonde man push the front doors open and slip out. He’s wearing a light-coloured shirt and pale ripped jeans, and he keeps glancing around. She turns back to her friend, “It sure looks like it. But why would he be in the apartments?”
...
The crew keep seeing someone that looks a lot like Travis around the apartments and assume that it's a new neighbor that moved in. Turns out that it was, in fact, Travis.

“I’m gonna go dance with Pete.” James tells Remus, jerking his chin in the direction of where Pete is swaying on the dance floor area. Remus nods and James takes off, heading towards their friend.
“Hi.” James smiles as he dances his way to where Pete is dancing, conjoining their hands together and starting to jump to the music that Remus is playing from the muggle record player he has.
Peter smiles back at him, tilting his head a bit, “Hi, James.”
“I keep getting flirted with.” James rolls his eyes.
“I’m sorry.” Pete smiles, “Maybe I should kiss you in the middle of the Great Hall, that might stop them.”
“Y’know.” James smirks, “You could just kiss me right now.”
...

Summary
“You’ve known these people for six years, James.” Marlene sighs, watching as they take their cane and fold it up into its smaller, more convenient form and put it in one of their trunks.
James just sighs, making sure that the device is well-hidden, “That doesn’t change things.” They shake their head, “I’ve been hiding it from them for this long.”
“Oh yeah, what’s the rest of your life?” They roll their eyes.
“Well as we get older, it’ll be more normal for me to have a cane.”
“One of your best friends uses a cane nearly everyday,” they argue, pausing to say goodbye to the group of parents that took them to the train station together while the three of them head further towards the tracks since the train itself is pulling up and coming to a slow stop, “I doubt he’d have any issue with it.
...
James needs a cane, albeit inconsistently, but their friends don't know that as, much to Marlene and Pete's displeasure, they hide their need of it from their friends. Unfortunately, all things must come to an end, especially when it deals with chronic pain.
