Summary
Malbone reflects, very briefly, on his life aboard the Revenge: the long weeks at sea, marinating in the slowly growing stench of unwashed sailors and sea salt; the thinning of his hair, undoubtedly caused by the stress of keeping a constant vigil against pirates nibbling at his heels; the ache in his joints when the clouds gather on the horizon and the sky darkens in herald of yet another storm.
I am, he thinks with absolute certainty, too old for this shit.

Think of this as less of a coherent story, and more of a series of vignettes, my attempt to fill the in-between bits that we glimpse but do not see in OFMD. Most of this takes place prior to the show, but I've included things that are hinted at during the show but chronologically take place before Episode 1 (e.g. ship in a storm).

The English officer thinks, only briefly, that this might be his chance to do something, but he’s frozen in fear and his leg is still bleeding, and he’s sitting across from a fucking oar with a hat and a disappointed look drawn on its face.
The officer sobs harder, choking on the gag.

This is not really as much a continuous, coherent story as a collection of in-between moments that are hinted at during the show (e.g. who put ribbons in Ed's beard?). Chapters are separated by episodes from Season 1, except for Episode 10 which was such a behemoth I had to split it into two parts.
