Summary
Izzy's not sure where the curse came from. It's been nearly four months of life on the wing, tiny body angled to catch the air currents that ebb and flow around the Revenge, glossy blue-black and white feathers replacing his leathers. While he's angry and frustrated sometimes, he's found he's far more at home with the simpler life being a swallow has offered him than he ever thought he would've been. He just wishes he could tell Edward that he didn't leave, didn't run from him, that he's still there.
He's got a few words for Stede fucking Bonnet too.
Still he's made peace with his new life, knows that whatever arbitrary target he has to meet to break it is about as likely as Edward learning to speak bird. He has a home still, has Edward and Stede even if they don't realise it, has shoulders to perch on and gentle fingers to brush down his feathers. It's more than he ever had as a man. He doesn't miss being Izzy Hands, at least not until he does.

Most of the young bloods took one look at him, grizzled and greying, shorter than average, and forgot all about who they were facing. They thought youth and any advantages that gave them would beat out experience.

He and Lucius had talked, after the last time, after Lucius'd had to break Izzy from the squalid little hole Ed dropped him in to 'think about things, mate'. They'd talked and now they had a plan that Izzy'd just pushed the go button on. Thankfully they were the best shadowrunners this side of the Caribbean League and had all the tools they needed at their disposal to evade one pissed off Shaman. Izzy was finding that the best part of destroying his reputation as 'Blackbeard's First Mate' was the sheer number of doors that it opened for him. Naval officers of all nationalities and governors, all of whom would quite happily have seen him hanged until dead then gibbeted up as a warning against the evils of piracy, were willingly opening their doors to him. Mercenaries and pirate hunters that knew his old reputation as one of the more honerable men to sail the seas under the black were suddenly happy to talk to him because he'd dared screw Blackbeard over after so many years, had brokered a deal with the English Navy, and had walked away from both intact and seemingly the better for it.
There were times he mourned what he'd lost, but those were fewer and further between the more distance he put between that life and his new one, and he was going to use his ruin for a damn good cause.

Izzy finds himself wished away to the Goblin Kingdom, guest of Jareth, and has a choice to make when his captains eventually brave the labyrinth for him.
