Clockwork had found him sitting in the centre of a destroyed chunk of forest, numb after he had raged and offered to take him somewhere new. He had agreed, having nothing else to keep him there and not wanting Vlad to find him. Clockwork had deaged his body to match his ‘ghost age’ explaining that ghosts age slower and aren’t a true adult until they’re one hundred years old, which made him look around three. Then, he sent him into another dimension and gave him a city to protect, Gotham.

Vlad grins as he finally hits the boy with his new invention, he watches in glee as Daniels body shrinks down to a small child. He’ll finally be able to adopt the boy! Anyone looking for him wouldn’t be looking for a young child and the invention would have taken most of Daniels memories as well!
... Yeah, that doesn't happen and won't happen if Batman has anything to say about it.

But no, what convinced him he’s in a different dimension are the ghosts. They’re nothing like the ghosts from the infinite realms, more like stereotypical ghosts kids who were raised normally believe in. The ones no one can see except in the flickering of lights, something falling when it shouldn’t, a strange noise or even sometimes a shadowy figure.
But not for Danny, cause of course he can’t be normal. To him these ghosts look like every other living person around him.

Danny gets trapped in the DC universe, specifically Gotham, and decides since he can see ghosts here he may as well use it.
