Summary
When Kris went off to university, he started meeting a wider variety of people than he’d had chances to encounter previously. Nik was one such person. Kris had met Nik when he slid into a random available seat for his first chemistry class, the guy in the chair next to him glancing at his bag and commenting, “nice patches.” They fell into conversation then about some of the British bands Kris enjoyed which turned into grabbing coffee to continue the conversation and then returning to Nik’s place to listen to an album he insisted Kris just had to hear. Their friendship formed fast and strong and soon, where one was found so too was the other. Kris’s stories all seemed to start with “Nik says” or “this one time, Nik and I” to the point where even his parents and bandmates were getting a little sick of hearing about the guy.

“I’m sure she’s kissed people before. I have,” Martin casually told him and Bojan gaped at him. “Not my parents - an actual real girl.”
“A real girl let you kiss her? What was it like?” Bojan asked, eager for this insight he hadn’t realized his friend was holding out on him on.
“It was pretty amazing,” Martin admitted, chest puffed up as he continued, “Not to brag but she said we could do it again sometime.”
“Ugh, you’re so lucky!” Bojan groaned, staring at his best friend as if he’d just revealed one of the universe’s deepest secrets. “Why can’t I be as cool as you? I want to kiss someone!”
“You could kiss me, if you just want to know what it’s like,” Martin suggested easily. “It wouldn’t be as good as it is with a girl, obviously, but it would at least give you some idea what you've been missing.”

Summary
To say that Nace had been unaware of the existence of queer people before joining Joker Out would be a lie - it was 2022, after all, and all one had to do was turn on the tv or log onto the internet and almost any possible orientation you could think of would be served right up for you. There was a difference, though, between seeing Tara and Willow kiss in a Buffy rerun on television and seeing your very real, very present, both very male bandmates exchange a quick kiss when one of them returned from the store. Nace knew he was staring, knew he should look away but his eyes seemed to stay glued to the sight of Bojan and Kris together even long after they’d broken apart and resumed normal conversation.

When Jure and Mark had first embarked on their relationship, the hardest part hadn’t been figuring out what to do together but rather when they had time to do anything at all. They both had very busy schedules which often didn’t align very well so three months into dating, Mark proposed a shared calendar they both had access to and could update as needed. Jure agreed immediately but he wasn’t the best at remembering to add things so soon, the rest of Joker Out found themselves with access to the calendar to add anything he’d forgotten.

Unlike most other children, Kris would later learn, the Guštins were raised with no expectation of being “appropriately” masculine or feminine. Maja would have a favorite race car toy, Maks a doll he carried everywhere, and Kris - Kris had long, flowing hair that he loved more than just about anything. He especially enjoyed when his mother put bows in it and called him “as pretty as a princess” - something she indulged him in as frequently as he requested. Most of the other parents and kids at his school didn’t seem to notice or care much beyond occasional bow-envy induced spats so it was without a second through that Chantal sent him off on his school field trip in a pink shirt and matching favorite pink hair ribbons adorning hair that had been styled just so.

Nace is always very careful not to refer to anyone as “his” in public after an ex gf complained that “being that possessive over people isn’t healthy.” He likes to think it isn’t actually a toxic trait - he’s not covetous of their attention or anything like that, he just tends to feel protective and yes, a little bit possessive of those important to him - and his band is definitely important to him.

When Jan’s guitar instructor had first said he was going to introduce him to Kris Guštin, son of the legendary Miha Guštin, Jan had felt a spike of fear. What if he wasn’t as naturally talented as the other must be given his pedigree? What if the younger boy took one look at him and just - laughed in his face? He’d heard the other had a sharp tongue - what if he made fun of his clothes or hair? Why did his teacher have to spring this on him on a day he was wearing a Britney Spears shirt of all things?

“What age do you all think you want to be married by?“ Jan blinked, startled by the question. They’d been lying on the grass of his backyard staring up at the clouds when Bojan posed the question. “I want to be married by 25 so I can start having kids young,” the singer continued. The topic of long term partners really should not have been a surprise given they’d spent the better part of the day helping Nace and his girlfriend move, but Jan hadn’t expected it and felt wrong footed nonetheless.
