Oda is not stupid.
He knows that Dazai is touch-starved. Knows that Dazai is touch-averse.
His guess is that when Dazai has been touched, it has not been kindly. Dazai flinches from touch, but he seems starved for it.(or: Dazai has a habit of turning up on Oda’s doorstep after his failed suicide attempts, and Oda figures out pretty quickly how desperately the loser needs touch even if he dissociates every single time it happens. Oda doesn’t really care how long it takes for Dazai to learn that not all touch is scary.)

Summary
Dazai shows up to Bar Lupin with bloody knuckles and a fever, playing it off with his usual grin. Summary
Dazai was private by instinct and by design. What he revealed was almost always deliberate, shaped to mislead or distract. Lies came easily to him—not the panicked kind, but the polished ones, offered with a smile and just enough truth to feel convincing. Oda had learned early on not to take any single version of Dazai at face value.
What he did know was simpler, and more troubling.
The injuries never stopped. There was always something new: a bandage where there hadn’t been one before, a limp that vanished after a few days, a new broken bone to flout or show off, bruises that appeared and disappeared without explanation. Dazai carried damage like a revolving door—nothing stayed long enough to heal properly before something else took its place.
