Fiyero just shrugs, sauntering closer. He pulls out a chair across from her and drops into it. "Reading’s tough," he says solemnly. "But I can manage two words if I really concentrate."
"Mhm." She points a finger, without looking up, at the sign behind her. "Try those next."

He exhales, tilting his head. "You’re anxious because I know about sex, and you don’t."
"I know about sex!" Elphaba protests, sharper than she intends.
He almost rolls his eyes but lets a smirk tug at his mouth instead. "Sure. The theory."
"Yes. That is knowing."
"That’s understanding, but not knowing," he pushes back. His voice dips lower, steady and deliberate.
Elphaba stiffens, her shoulders tense, her gaze cutting into him, as she wants to argue, but the silence betrays her. He’s right, and they both know it.------------------------
