Summary
“You look less than pleased to be here,” says a voice to Geralt’s left. It’s jarring enough that someone that he doesn’t recognize is speaking to him that Geralt almost chokes on an ice cube. He swallows hard, then looks towards the voice.
“What gave it away?” He asks. He licks vodka-cherry flavor off his top lip, waiting for this irritatingly pretty stranger to say something shitty.
“Well, you’re nursing a drink and brooding in a corner when you could definitely be doing a lot else. And, no offense, you look confused by your drink. Plus, you’re way too pretty to be here alone.”
Geralt bites down on his bottom lip, trying unsuccessfully to suppress a smile. “That’s a shitty line.”

He opens his fridge. There are eggs, a questionable container of mayonnaise, a premade salad, and a rotisserie chicken that he bought three days ago and forgot about. It’s probably fine. He hasn’t been home in a while, but there’s no reason it wouldn’t be fine.
He’s about to grab the chicken and slap it onto two pieces of bread when his phone pings. If it’s work he might just stab himself in the eye with the nearby butter knife. He grunts, pulls the phone out of his back pocket.
Jaskier: Hiiiiiiiii xx What are you doing right now?
Geralt finds himself smiling, even though he’s only half awake and probably starving to death.
