The man’s face hardened slightly, his nose scrunching up in discomfort as he hunched in more on himself.
Legundo stepped towards him slightly, stopping when he saw Owen flinch at the proximity. He stayed just a few feet away from him, but stood in front of the doorway so they could have some semblance of privacy in the kitchen.
“Owen,” he repeated, voice stern and low. “How long has it been since you last ate?”

He also figured that in trying to keep up appearances as human, Owen was tired a lot more often. Which is why this arrangement was working well for them so far.
With nothing going on during the weekends, since there were no classes, Owen could sleep soundly during the day as Legundo worked throughout it.

A hand grabbed his wrist gently, stopping Owen in his tracks. Legundo moved in front of him, blocking his path to the couch, not letting go of his wrist. “God, I forgot how stupid you can be sometimes.” The man breathed, and there’s a softness in his voice that startled Owen.
Blinking in confusion, Owen frowned. “What do you–?”
He didn’t get a chance to finish the question.

Instantaneously, Owen’s hold on his bat form snapped, and he suddenly shifted back to his human form, stumbling on the landing out of Legundo’s hand. “Whoa-” The man caught him before he could collapse onto the floor, and Owen clutched his stomach tightly.
There was a ringing in his ears that made everything sound muffled. “Are you alright?” He vaguely heard Legundo ask, his arms around him to help keep Owen upright. He immediately shook his head, though the action just made everything spin.

“You try sending letters back and forth for two hundred years and see if you’re not anxious about it. At least it takes at most two weeks these days, it used to be months at a time.”
Laughing lightly, Legundo just smiled gently as he rummaged through the fridge. “I would’ve thought you’d be texting and calling for hours in your free time. Why stick to the letters?”
“Louis prefers it,” Owen sighs, though a fond expression crossed his face as he stared down at his lover’s latest letter out in front of him on the counter. “And I… sort of like it. Digital correspondence can be deleted by accident or lost, this way, I always have something of his.”

Summary
This time, as he let the door swing closed behind him, Legundo stared in surprised shock to see Louis and Owen both standing by the counter. The lights have been dimmed, some candles burning with a smell like pine trees, and a vase of wildflowers that he vaguely recognized from the delicate dried and pressed ones in the pages of Owen's old letters from Louis.
