When Rhaenys couldn't claim a dragon, prince Aemon Targaryen was married again to one of his sisters. To protect his fearful sister, who was being pressed to marry and afraid of leaving home, Aemon chooses princess Daella, and and have Aemma Targaryen.
In order to unite the lines of prince Baelon and crown prince Aemon, Aemma and Viserys are married, and from that union comes only one daughter, princess Rhaenyra.
To everyone's joy and some fear, the girl came a demigod like those who existed in Valyria before the doom. Like Queen Rhaenys and her dead twin brother were said to have been. Like Maegor the cruel and his dead twin sister. Like Daemon was. And now Rhaenyra.
According to all stories that survived Valryria, now and then demigods with great power are born to dragonlords. It is the union and fruitfullness of twin demigods from the gods Caraxes and Meraxes that causes dragons to lay eggs and their lines surviving for them to hatch.
Daemon, was the last child born from Alyssa and Baelon, his twin sister born an hour after him and dead. The next child born in the closest Targaryen family was Rhaenyra, born at the same day, same hour the girl was, 16 year later.

Summary
The Dance of the Dragons was a term used to describe the three years between the reign of Viserys I and Rhaenyra I, after Viserys the butcher killed his first wife, the princess married Prince Daemon, the king’s younger brother and lord paramount of the narrow seas, after she found the king with her former handmaiden, Alicent Hightower.
However Otto Hightower should have known that he was not the only one who could send a daughter to ensnare the king, for Cassandra was even more charming than his daughter.
When Alicent and Cassandra both have sons born on the same day, the realm holds its breath. Their sons Aemond the Terrible and Aenar the fool set the realm on fire trying to wear their father’s crown.
In the end, the black queen wins the throne that two families kill each other for. Queen Rhaenyra rises from the ashes of House Hightower and House Baratheon

In "Rhaenyra The Golden" I promised only one-shots and a break from this fandom, but I am a dirty liar. I swear this happens every single time I start writing House of the Dragon fic.
I sit down with one clear idea in mind, fully convinced I know where the story is going, and somehow I end up with two. The same thing happened with "The Rogue Prince Come Again" and "HIMYF – Targaryen Edition", so at this point I really should know better than to fight it.
So far, we’ve wandered through Dorne, Driftmark, the Stepstones, the North, and even Yi Ti. And now—whether I like it or not—we’re heading into my least favorite region of all: the Riverlands. I have complaints. Many of them. But the story demanded it, and I’ve learned that arguing rarely works.
This fic is me unapologetically playing cupid, rearranging pieces, and indulging a little too hard in character dynamics. Somewhere along the way, I also circled right back to my Sims tendencies, because apparently I cannot help myself when it comes to orchestrating the chaos that is Westeros.
As always, thank you for reading, and for sticking with me as this series continues to grow sideways instead of straight ahead.

Basically I’m a little tired of the time travel fix its with the visions and waking up in a younger body or some kind of magic society where suddenly a girl boss comes along and fucks any misogynistic asshat into oblivion. I’m a huge Rhaenyra stan but I think she would’ve needed way more realistic support from her family throughout the course of things. (Don’t get me wrong, I love reading the mentioned FFs but I think there needs to be a bigger picture here)

Aegon began the construction and design of the Red Keep in King’s Landing that same year. Aegon constructed his own throne made out of the weapons of his defeated enemies and used his Dragon, Balerion, to meld them into a seat to be feared and desired by all across the Seven Kingdom. The Conqueror declared:
“Only a worthy ruler may sit upon the Iron Throne in comfort and all those unworthy shall die”
