There was no clock in view of his cell. Nothing to indicate when June 4th ticked over to June 5th, but he knew. He had been staring at his left hand since the sun had gone down, wondering if maybe the Dark Mark would render him unworthy of a soulmate.
The moon shined through his meager, barred window, and he felt it before he saw it. A tug at the base of his left pinky finger. Gentle, soft. He swallowed thickly and looked, the cord wrapping around his pale, thin, bony finger looked nearly black in the moonlight. It trailed off lazily, disappearing beyond the bonds of his cell in the general direction of his soulmate.
He wrapped his left hand to his chest, shuddering. He wondered what kind of miserable person would be stuck with someone like him. He feared rejection. Or maybe he'd be sent to Azkaban for life and never have the chance to meet them. Beneath it all, a tiny and terrifying flicker of hope, that maybe there was still good in him.

Derek shakes his head so the water drops down onto Stiles’ face.
“Ewwww, wet dog,” Stiles complains, but he’s still laughing.
“That wasn’t funny,” Derek growls, trying to keep his answering grin off his face. “You’re getting kind of stealthy. I’d usually have heard you miles out.”
“Good to know I can still get the drop on you, wolf-man,” Stiles grins easily.
“That’s the first thing you said to me when I saw you again at the house, two years ago,” Derek tells him softly.
“I remember,” Stiles hums, stretching lazily in Derek’s grip, testing his hold.
He could get out easily, Derek’s seen him in action, but it’s even more exciting to him that Stiles is willing to humour him and it amazes him how he playfully pretends that Derek even has a semblance of control here.
Derek runs his sharp nose up Stiles’ jugular, taking in his scent, overlain slightly with the salt water. That’s why he didn’t smell him coming.
He can smell him now though and he smells good.

“What?” Jisung looks at him. His eyes shine with hope that Minho doesn’t want to crush.
“Went somewhere,” Minho says as the idea comes to him. “Somewhere out of town where no one knows us. Spring break’s coming up soon.”
Jisung’s brows shoot up. “Yeah?” He all but squeaks in anticipation.
“The coast is a few hours away,” Minho continues. His heart rate picks up speed as the words come to mind and instantly leave his mouth. “We could drive down to one of the less popular beaches. Just us.”
Jisung pulls back to face him fully. He’s skeptical, but his face has already lit up. “You’re serious?”
“Yeah,” Minho says, forcing a smile. “Why not?”

"Ah," Ilya said, and something like understanding crossed his face. "Was about us, then."
Shane pressed his forehead to Ilya's neck. Of course Shane couldn't just slip this by, of course he would be figured out. He wrapped Ilya up in a hug and moved his hand up and down his back, in a way that he hoped said it doesn't matter.
"He just–after he checked me, I called him a dick, and then he said I'd need my big scary Russian husband to protect me. And then he called you a name, and…"
Shane didn't know how to finish that sentence, so he let it trail off. And it felt so unfair. And I got more angry than I had any reason to. And I hate that I can't go one game without my sex life being brought up in some way. And it's happened a million other times, so why should I have cared on this one specific occasion?
Over the course of the first half of his fifth season on the Centaurs, Shane considers retirement, homophobia, his public life, family, and his legacy. He also gets a tooth knocked out, visits the beach, and is repeatedly pissed off by how hot his husband is.
