"That's nice of you to offer," Patrick says, blinking, "but I don't think that an alpha bromance would—"
"No," David says. "As your omega boyfriend."
Patrick's head is spinning. He feels like he's somehow missed half the conversation. It really shouldn't need to be said, but— "You're not," he tells David. "An omega."
"I have been," David says, and shrugs. It's a liquid movement, aggressively casual, and Patrick suddenly burns with the desire to know exactly what on earth David means by it.

“And you’re okay with that? Thought you’d want to be in the thick of it. Not every day we run into a Naval ship full of soldiers you can run your blade through,” John says, tone light but edged with sarcasm. Izzy shoots him a look. He’s not annoyed, but he’s not not annoyed.
“Thought you’d want to see your mate at it, thought that was your thing,” John goes on. “Whole ship can hear the two of you after every battle. Always like it’s the first time, we can hear you yowling-”
“Silver,” he warns, teeth gritted. Silver’s eyes have a dangerous glint as he steps back, head tilted and teeth bared. Izzy takes a breath, forcing himself to be calm. He will not rise to the bait, dammit. He’s supposed to be taking care of John, and surely Flint will be disappointed if he comes back to find that Izzy has stabbed him. “You’ll see, soon enough. Mating after a battle is… unmatched.”

“The whole reason you can’t find a date, it’s ‘cause they don’t drive you up the wall just by talking.” She explained, dropping the home-rolled joint into the dish dangerously balanced between the two cushions, threatening to get swallowed in it's infinite comfort with any careless movement of one person.
“The fuck does that mean, Laurel?” He scoffed, raising his pierced eyebrow to her in accusing confusion.
“It means," she stressed, roughly throwing her back into the backing of the couch like she was annoyed of having to explain something so obvious. "that when they’re voice starts making you crazy, that’s when you know you’re fucked.”
It was silent for a minute, the two drugged people letting the sentiment dwell in their skulls until it passed into their chests, leaving an ache in one and a squeeze in the other, a sense of dread and a memory of nostalgia.
“... Is that what happened with you an’ Eduardo?”
“Shut the fuck up, Tom.”
