The MSBY Black Jackals were vacationing on an island when lockdown measures were put in place due to a pandemic. While the rest of their teammates managed to get on the last flight back to Japan, Kiyoomi and Atsumu didn't make it.
To be stuck in close quarters with your enemy-slash-teammate in a foreign country for an indefinite period of time...it shouldn’t be too bad, right?

Vanta leans in. “You sure, dawg? Because from where I’m sitting, nothing’s ruined.”
“This is why I didn’t tell you guys,” Wilson groans, digging his fingers into his hair as if he could physically pull the embarrassment out of his skull. “I feel so stupid. What else do you call making up a whole fanfiction in your head about your crush dating your friend just because you didn’t want to deal with how much you liked him?”
“...Poetry?” Vezalius winces, exchanging a glance with Vanta.
Wilson scowls down at his cup. “Shakespeare didn’t write with this trainwreck. He’d kill me off in act one.”
“True,” Vanta muses in complete agreement. Vezalius kicks him hard. “But I think he would’ve written a tragedy about you anyway. Lots of monologues. You’d love that.”
Or: Oh God, is Yu Q. Wilson homophobic?

“But Shu, we’ve always worked as a trio! And look at him and his big fucking magical claws! I’m not going near that!” Vanta whines frustratedly, kicking his feet at empty air and it’s comedical to see the tyrant of Krisis act this way.
“Vanta.” Shu’s glare is sharp and piercing as Vanta zips his lips. It doesn’t help that Shu’s different colored eyes of amethyst and emerald are glistening furiously underneath the lights. “Be nice.”
Vanta sulks as Wilson and Zali exchange wary looks, indifferent towards the addition to their squad. “Fine.” Vanta lets out a vexed sigh before turning towards Claude who has the most stoic expression ever. “Hi, my name is Vantacrow Bringer-”
“I don’t care what your name is.” Claude cuts Vanta off calmly. “Now can you leave me alone?”
Or, the aftermath of a mission sees Krisis having a new addition to their squad.
