My heart pounds through my whole body. I feel as though my head might explode.
The soft ding of the coffee shop bell pulls me out of my emotional stupor. I look up, gasping, and carefully untangle my hand from my hair.
Their hair, dark as night, is pulled up in a yellow beanie. They scan the seats, seemingly looking for something, or someone. Finally their gaze falls on me, and we lock eyes.
I am suddenly very aware of what I look like.
I frantically wipe my face , try to fix my hair, but it just ends up more frazzled than before. They start walking toward me.
I try to say something, but the words won’t form in my mouth.
“Hey, babe,” They announce loudly, setting down a drawstring bag I hadn’t seen before. It’s blue, with a lowercase ‘t’ on the front. “Sorry I’m late. The road was really backed up.” They lower their voice as they sit down across from me. “Just go with it, yeah? Whoever dumped you must be a grade A jerk.”Series

Bruce blinked several times as his mind raced and he tried to get his bearings. He’d been… He’d been returning to the cave after patrol, and had been almost home when something huge had crashed in front of the Batmobile. He’d barely swerved out of the way in time, and then he’d gotten out to investigate it. And then he’d touched whatever it was, and it had lit up in red light, and then… then it was now. And now he was lying on the floor of a small, all-white room while a small, dark haired child sat next to him and stared with blatant curiosity.
He sat up with a groan. “Where am I?”
“Some sort of cell on an alien spaceship,” the child said, his voice sounding more annoyed than anything else. “I’ve got an escape plan, though, so don’t worry. I’ll get you out of here.”
