After the whole Misethere incident and its subsequent events, Geralt’s life had calmed down — kind of. He could see Ciri on a daily basis; he lived more-or-less regularly at the Nilfgaardian Imperial palace; and best of all, every noble in Emhyr’s circle of viper-advisors thought he was the Emperor’s pet witcher.
The truth was much more complicated than that, of course. And he didn’t give a fuck what they thought, anyway.
But then an attack Geralt would have previously sworn was impossible slowly turns everything they thought they had known into disarray, and he finds himself once again fighting to keep the few people who truly matter to him safe.
